How much sugar and dextrose is in each can?

Answer by AndyJul 26, 2025
I don't know. Maybe too much. Old dogs like mine don't need sugar or dextrose; they need love and a lot of petting.

When do you think this will be back in stock? Can you add me to the wait list?

is it possible to get a muffin of flavors?

Is this chunky food?

Answer by ChewyMar 12, 2024
This stew has bite-sized chunks in gravy.

Excellent source of vegetables with the right amount of liquid..

My baby boy “Aaron Mathew,” is a rescue. I adopted him in 2022 and he was 8-years old at that time. He was the stud and really had not been taken care of at all. I am so very grateful for my veterinarians who look out for the both of us. Aaron, had been really sick recently and one of the veterinarians; suggested “a can of this food for an alternative choice during his sickness.” I said. “Ok.” I love it. I mix it with the pate and the 2-.together is a great meal for my little baby. My baby, will not free drink water. This food has the right amount of liquid. The thing I “LOVE the most? My baby is satisfied after his meals now!” He does not beg for more food and his system is so very regulated! Hope this helps another dog owner who has a dog that will not drink water and needs some additional vegetables in the food!

I have been ordering the small can of low fat id for well over a year now. It used to be a sort of paste/pate. Now it’s way watery with way less “meat” product. I read another reviewer who said they reached out to hills and hills stated they changed nothing. I’m going to hunt down an old can to see if I can post a comparison. It is imperative to hold these corporations accountable. I do love chewy- they’ve done nothing wrong. I’ll be reaching out to hills.

My Maltipoo is the pickiest eater ever. She loves this wet dog food recipe. I’ve been trying several dry kibble and she turned her nose up at all of them. I would cook her boiled chicken and ground turkey with cooked carrots. She got tired of that too plus I had to make her food weekly. Now it’s easy peasy. Just pop open the canned wet chicken stew with rice and vegetables. She gets 1/2 a can daily with prescription lamb dry kibble to nibble on when she wants to. She’s satisfied and so am I. Only complaint is that sometimes the cans arrive dented but it doesn’t affect the food. My dog weighs 16lbs.

My service dog Bonnie is very picky about what she eats. She ate this for a while but started to reject it. She would eventually eat it if I left it out for awhile, but I wanted to find her something she wanted. She is on a special prescription diet of no more than 3-4 % maximum fat which is very hard to find. This product is the only one I can find and I still feed it to her now and then.

My dog has to eat this low fat food for chronic pancreatitis. I ordered one case of Original and one case of Stew. Unfortunately they were not packaged well to withstand Fedex and it looked like the box was dropped on its end so the end of each case had extremely dented cans and some of the interior cans were dented also. I had to throw away 9 cans in total, out of 24. Chewy did give a refund for half the cost. But please fix the shipping/packaging protocol for canned food.

I ordered this bc we suspect my dog has Pancreatitis based on her symptoms and blood work. My vet wants her on a very low fat food for awhile she had been on the Hills Digestive Care wet food previously so when I went to look for a low fat food for her and saw a low fat version so I figured great! After a rough week of 4 am bathroom breaks, cooking & serving small chicken and rice bowls, and worrying about my sick best friend, I didn't even think to check the ingredients. When it was time to transition her, I looked at the label to make sure the fat % was inline with the vets recommendation and saw that the main ingredient after water is pork liver not chicken. Since her bloodwork also showed some elevated liver numbers, I am not comfortable feeding her liver right now. I am not a dog nutritionist and I'm not one to demonize ingredients without understanding them and I am sure plenty of dogs enjoy and thrive on this food. However, I do think something sold as "chicken stew" should contain more chicken than anything else or be labeled differently (perhaps as pork and chicken stew with...). I am now left looking for a better fit.

First, I want to mention that Chewy delivers prescriptions, including food, by day two, making it convenient for customers. Regarding the food, my dog Arya loves it! She didn’t like the dry, low-fat food, but she salivated over the wet variety. This is just while she is losing the 5 lbs. Overall, it’s a great purchase.
