My service dog has been put on your I/D low fat because she has been diagnosed with pancreatitis. Do you have treats for this as well?
Answer by ChewyOct 27, 2017
The Hill's Prescription Diet Hypo-Treats Dog Treats are suggested for a pup on the i/d Diet.

Hi, can this canned food after opened be out of the refrigerator?
Answer by ChewyOct 07, 2017
Opened cans of food should be stored in the fridge to retain moisture, minimize exposure to air and reduce transfer of odors to other food. The best way to store opened cans of cat or dog food is to use a plastic pet food lid that fits the top of the can to prevent moisture loss and transfer of odors. If a plastic lid is not available, plastic wrap also provides a very good moisture, air and odor barrier. Zip-to-close bags provide good moisture barriers but do not provide good oxygen and odor barriers. Opened cans should be stored in the fridge, at temperatures between 40-45°F, for a maximum of 5-7 days. Any cat or dog food remaining after that time should be thrown out.

Is there a preservative in this food? If so, what is it? Thanks!
Answer by ChewyJul 27, 2018
Hill's does not use preservatives in their formulas as the vacuum seal on the can serves as a preservative.

Is this food good for a pet that has experienced acid reflux?
Answer by ChewyJan 09, 2020
Due to your dogs condition, we'd encourage you to speak to your veterinarian to determine what food would be suit your dogs needs.

is what it is. but it works. and he eats it.

Our pup cost us thousands at the ER and regular vets, diagnosed with Pancreatitis, with more or less a death sentence within 6 mos to a year. we found a dog whisperer who took a stool and blood sample and said CHANGE THE DIET. Low fat all the way, plus a prescription of PancrePlus powder supplement. That was two years ago. Pancreatitis doesn't go away but can be managed. He's 12 and aging like we are.

Good For Dog Intestinal Problems

This product was recommended by our Vet and my two dogs absolutely love it. One dog has intestinal problems and this food was recommended especially for her. Both dogs are picky eaters, but they both gobbel this food down like there was no tomorrow. This food has helped the intestinal problems clear up and she doesn't throw this food up either.

Shame on You

Shame on Chewy for not informing customers that the formula for this food CHANGED and it now has GROUND PECAN SHELLS in it. Regardless the reason, as a customer with a dog with HGE I needed to know. AND, shame on you for raising the price every 2 weeks.

Fast delivery

Fast delivery, but I took one star because some of the cans had dents . I believe they are packaged in great condition , but through delivery they get banged around . Other than that good pricing and fast delivery. They make it very easy to summit prescriptions with quick approval.

What have you done!!

Our dog has been on this prescription food for 4 years for severe acid reflux and had no problems til the ingredients were changed. My last 2 deliveries have the food much drier and crumbles when I take food out. It won't even hold together to give her medicine in it. It crumbles everywhere when she eats it. I now have to add liquid to help her eat it. She struggles now as she is 15 yrs old. Still costs the same, but quality terrible. Looking for other brand

VERY pricey. Product quality is inconsistent

My Standard Poodle was put on this food by the vet due to G.I. Issues (diarrhea/gas). He loves the flavor, and gobbles it up. Tummy seems better. However, product consistency varies from batch to batch. Some food is wet, some is more dry and flaky. For $48/12 cans and my dog needs 4 cans a day, I expect consistency at the very least. Will be switching him off this ASAP.

My finnicky dog is eating so much better now!

Chewy customer service is absolutely stellar. We were having trouble finding a low fat food that my 15 year old, finicky chihuahua with g/i sensitivity would like. We found it right here and I am so happy and grateful to Chewy for their help.

ID pate formula

I thought there might have been a production problem when I opened a can from my last case but now I know it is a new formula. My dog has pancreatitis and this food was literally a life saver that she has been eating for 10 years. She hates the new formula and it caused digestive stress and diarrhea. We will be looking for a new food and feed the kibble version mixed with water until we find something else. Very disappointed and feel deceived that there was not a notification from Chewy or Hills about the change

Hills Low-fat Prescription pate

Hey guys as many many of the other customers here my Shitzapoo has pancreatitis. He's been on this Hill Low-fat Pate formula for about 4 years. Over the last few months I was really having an issue with getting him to eat, at least until he could reject it no more cause he was so hungry! I had no idea that hills changed the recipe until today reading the other testimonials! Like a lot of the other people here since hills didn't notify us by changing the label to say new formula it just never occured to me that that was what was going on! Good News!! Because my dog was showing his dislike for the new low-fat prescription diet by hills I started looking for an alternative. I found one that my dog loves! It's also a low fat prescription diet and it's put out by "Blue Buffalo"! My dog absolutely loves the stuff. He liked it so much that I decided to try their low fat prescription kibble to and low and behold, my picky, fussy, irritatingly lovable fur baby absolutely went crazy for it! So, I've read a lot of other reviews on chewy today about how disappointed we all are about hills change in formula and I would just like to advise y'all to at least look into the Blue Buffalow formula maybe it will resolve your dog food problems too?!?! Good luck! 🙋🏼‍♀️😉
