- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.

I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.

Did not like
By Bekkah on Mar 6, 2021
My fur child has had the chicken stew I/D can before, so we thought we would give this a try as a less expensive alternative. She had no interest. We mixed it with her dry food and she tried picking out just the dry food. She just decided not to eat altogether, which is saying a lot from such a food oriented dog. Chewy did offer a free return, but it was still frustrating that my dog would not even eat a bite.

Special Food
By HappyDog on Feb 17, 2021
This product (Hill's Digestive Care) is what's keeping my chihuahua alive. He had severe bloating (not the technical kind) and my Vet put him on this and steroids-problem went away and has not returned. The weather was bad, so I had Chewy deliver this-we had a small delay, but I was so glad not to have to drive twenty miles to get it, that it didn't matter.

Stomach issues resolved
By abclife on Feb 18, 2021
My rescue puppy was put on this prescription diet for a few weeks following various episodes of diarrhea. Between this food and the antibiotic, my pup's GI tract quickly improved. Our pup was diagnosed with a sensitive stomach after testing, so this food is now used as a Kong/Toppl stuffer in the freezer for an extra treat before bed that we know won't hurt his belly. Great product.

Not quite what I expected.
By AvonLee on Feb 12, 2021
The contents are a lot looser with a higher moisture content. The same product I have been purchasing locally was more solid and easier to determine one third of a can serving at a time. She is feed three times a day. Her stools seem to also be a little looser, which could be an issue. However she still seems to love it, so all is well at this time.

Prescribe by our vet for our GSD
By Kromakey on Jan 24, 2021
Our pup became really ill and she was prescribed this food. Funny thing that after we tried so many of those expensive designer foods, she likes this the best. Our vet said we could keep her on this diet. Happy we are able to give her something she likes and is gentle on her stomach.

Picky eater
By Hoss on Jan 12, 2021
My vet recommended either this or the Science Diet Chicken&Veggie Stew because my Maltese wouldn’t eat the best of the on the shelf canned dog food. She is so picky. I wind up throwing away half of what I give her. I wish I could buy a case of 6 of one and 6 of the other. She still likes this better than anything else she’s had.

Chewy is the best!
By Chloe on Jan 7, 2021
I have been ordering food an treats for my bulldog Chloe form chewy for awhile. When she became ill and passed they refunded me money from unused food and allowed me to donate the prescription food to my vet in chloes name. I will be forever grateful for their caring kindness. Thank you so very much. Love chloes family

She loved it at first
By Shizam on Nov 25, 2020
Poor little Lili. She is 14 and has moderate kidney disease so I thought I'd feed her this to slow the progression. She loved it at first. After about a week she refused to eat any of the K/D food...(I had an assortment). Nothing against K/D, it's just that she has no appitite and refuses almost anything I feed her. I went on line to find a homemade diet for kidney disease. At first she loved this homemade food and she got her spring back in her step and seemed to be a puppy again. After about a week she refused this food also. Her weight is dropping because she won't eat. I'll keep striving to give her something she likes. So sad. I hope your dog loves this food.

My Chihuahua wouldn't eat this...
By dusty on Mar 1, 2021
She likes the Chicken & Vegetable, but won't touch this turkey. It has the common can dog-food consistancy, and taste that my Chihuahua won't eat...
