Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.

So happy now!
By Chuggle on Jan 3, 2021
My 2 year old rescue had been having bouts of vomiting and diarrhea for the last 6 months. We added a probiotic and at first it seemed to work but then it came back with a vengeance. May have to switch to wet food or moisten the dry food as he ages but I would 100% recommend it! … more

Finally found a solution!
By Linda on Jan 5, 2021
I recently adopted a 2 year old dog - history unknown - and he would have bouts of diarrhea and vomiting every other week or so. I tried home made food, different recommended kibble, various add ons - and while they worked for a bit, he was still suffering regularly. My vet recommended that we try this prescription food before potentially having to see an internist for potentially bigger problems. To my amazed and happy relief, Barkley has now been diarrhea free and no vomiting for over a month - and it changed his digestion immediately. Highly recommend this as a first stop for any dogs suffering similar symptoms. Well worth the money.

Protein deficiency
By Pidgey on Jan 10, 2021
My cavalier King Charles spaniel was diagnosed with PLE (protein losing enteropathy). It was touch and go for awhile, but with prescription medication and draining of her abdominal fluid she has made a miraculous recovery. The vet prescribed I/d high protein food by science diet which she needs to be on indefinitely. This food is pricey but she eats it very well and is maintaining her weight and well being. I highly recommend science diet dog food.

Great for my dog
By Lynzie on Dec 21, 2020
My dog has always had a sensitive stomach, any food I gave her she would throw up and have very soft stools. I struggled to find something that worked for my dog, Ruby. This food was recommended by our vet after I brought up Ruby’s issues. Ever since Ruby got on this food she rarely throws up and her stools are solid! Not sure what makes her throw up or have soft / runny stools but I’m glad this food solves the issue! Been on this dog food for about 8 months now.

It is worth the price!
By Christy on Jan 13, 2021
Like others here, my rescue had severe diarrhea- even when on chicken and rice- on and off for over a month. Vet recommended this food for him along with probiotic- and he has normal bowel movements now and looks healthier and seems much happier! Dog is happy and momma is happy!

Picky eater w/ a sensitive stomach loves this.
By Patrish on Dec 21, 2020
I have a 4 pound dog. She’s very picky and this is the only food she will eat. She also had stomach issues and this is the one food that works for her. Some people are saying the kibbles are too big for their dog. My dog is very tiny, so we actually grind up the food for her to make them into smaller pieces and she doesn’t mind at all.

So thankful!
By GretlThePuppy on Jan 6, 2021
Our puppy has been sick since the day we got her. We've been struggling with non-stop stomach issues day and night for over six weeks. Chewy has been amazing at getting us the prescription food we need quickly and easily. This particular food has been helpful.

Only food my dog can have. Customer service is THE BEST!
By ShortyG on Dec 28, 2020
This is the only food my dog can eat without getting a really bad upset stomach. I ordered the purple bag by mistake and Chewy customer service refunded that 27# bag and asked that I donate it, which I did and they were so grateful. I ordered the correct food and it got here right away. What a great company, thank you!

Yorkie loves it
By Maximus on Dec 14, 2020
Our yorkie Max who is very picky loves this kibble. He doesn't eat most other kibble from regular brands so we have to usually stick to wet, canned or home cooked food for him. This is the only kibble he appears to have liked. Our other dog loves it too so works out nicely. These products are good but a bit overpriced.

Too Big!!!
By TamJ on Nov 9, 2020
I am so dissapointed! My dogs have been eating the i/d LOW-FAT chicken for years. I thought they might enjoy the full flavor better, and got a new prescription from my vet. They didn't necessarily need low fat for any weight issues. I was so upset when I got this and discovered the kibble is at least twice the size of the low fat same flavor version!! WHY CANT THEY TELL YOU THIS IN THEIR DESCRIPTION/INFO???? So much money and my tiny girls can't eat it! I can't even donate it because its a px.
