My dog has been on this for just over a year now. His ideal weight is around 75 pounds and he had gotten up over 90, so his vet said he should go in this food. He is back under 80 pounds now. The bad news is that he can once again jump over the child gate we have to keep him out of part of the house. But he’s obviously feeling good. This food must taste good, because my other dog, who is not on a diet, tries to steal his instead of eating the regular (premium) dog food I feed him.
I have 2 same litter maltipoms 1 slightly over weight and one just right. Activity level’s different. My vet recommended this. The kibbles are larger than they are used to. Better for the 25 pounder and manageable for fir the 15. They really like it and their feces seems really healthy. New to food so can’t comment on weight loss yet but none on the one maintaining which was a concern.
My Siberian husky is very picky with food and when it came time to switch to this one to help with her weight she loved it !
My vet wanted my Chihuahua to eat Hills Science Diet Metabolic food to lose weight. But I did not see this food came in small breed size morsels. I went ahead and bought a small bag. My little dog could not chew it so I have to soak the morsels in hot water to soften them. And, after I drain the water off, she only eats 3 or 4 morsels.
I have tried to very slowly introduce this to our 92# Lab and with just a bit under a half a cup of her normal food and only 8-9 of the Hill’s kibbles she throws it up.
Our Veterinarian recommended our 10 year old go on a diet. Our dog transferred over to this food extremely easily and lost the recommended pounds within a short period of time!
My dog liked the food. Unfortunately, now after three months of actually giving him a bit less than the recommended amount, he is gaining weight. I'd recommend it, but I don't think it's for every dog, just like diets for humans are not all the same.
So far my Aussie lost two pounds in 15 days. She loves this kibble very much. It's more expensive than regular high end kibbles but the health benefits for my dog outweighs the cost.
great customer service the dog enjoy the new food and will reorder when needed saw on line where you gave wheels to a dog, great company, I tell everyone to go to chewy and buy stocks I have and am very pleased ,thank you devoted customer
My dog drools over this food. He’s never been super excited to eat but he is obsessed with this food. He was about 75 lbs when I put him on it about 6 months ago, and he’s now just under 70 lbs. It’s great for slow, healthy weight loss. If your dog isn’t losing weight on it, make sure you’re feeding what’s recommended on the bag. Cut back a little if they’re getting treats too, and if they’re still not losing weight, cut back a little more. I promise it works. Also great for low activity dogs. I’m a vet student and this is the gold standard diet for weight loss and weight maintenance. I know it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. He also loves the metabolic treats
