Feeding Instructions

Adult: Feed 3/4 - 1 1/4 cans per 15 lbs of body weight per day.

Puppy: Feed up to twice the Adult amount per day.

Gestation and Lactation: Feed up to 3 times the Adult amount per day.

Adjust the amount of food you serve based on the age, size, and activity level of your dog. Food should be fed at room temperature. Fresh water should be available at all times. Promptly refrigerate unused portions.

Transition Instructions

A slow transition will be the easiest. Plan for the process to take about a week. Days 1 and 2, mix 25% of the new food in with the old food. If the change is tolerated well, increase the transition to 50% new food. Continue for a few days then increase the new food to 75%, then 100% after a couple more days. Be sure to mix the “old” food with Hound & Gatos – don’t offer each food separately. If transitioning from kibble, you can just add the can as a topper to the kibble. If loose stools occur, keep the ratio of old/new food at the current ratio for a couple of days until the stools firm back up.

I’m looking for a top - quality food for my pet. What ingredients should I look for on the label?

AA healthy food for your dog or cat offers your pet true nutrition. At Hound & Gatos we believe true nutrition begins with a balanced diet similar to what they would eat in nature: a diet high in protein. The first ingredient on all of our labels is a meat source, such as beef, chicken or fish. Our products are manufactured in the USA. No byproducts, fillers, inferior ingredients, or artificial preservatives are added into our products. Never Carrageenan. Our products are 100% meat 0% grains.

Why is a high - protein diet a balanced diet for my pet?

At Hound & Gatos, we believe pets should be given diets that reflect their diets in the wild, which is why we developed an all - meat diet.

Do you have any organizations that have supported Hound & Gatos?

Yes, 4 years awarded Most Trusted Pet Foods by Truth About Pet Food, 3 years Whole Dog Journal, won all 5 Stars at DogFood Advisor.com, and CatInfo.org.

Will an all - meat diet damage my pet’s kidneys?

Dogs are meat eaters by nature, and their bodies were created to excrete the protein waste in ways that humans and other animals aren’t capable. A healthy pet should have no problem digesting protein - based diets.

My 10 month old toy poodle puppy (@babybashandfam) LOVES him some Hound & Gatos food! So far he's tried their Grass Fed Lamb dry food and their Lamb & Liver wet food. We are very impressed with this company and will definitely order again!

    High Quality Product

    By on

High quality dog food. The only reason it did not ear 5 stars was that 1 of our 3 dogs refuses to eat it. No idea why as it looks and smells fine. Go figure?

    Hard to Get

    By on Top 100 Contributor

I have been feeding my cats Hounds & Gatos wet food for along time. Started feeding my new puppy Hounds and Gatos too. Lately I have not been able to buy it. Chewy is out of most of the time "out of stock" . I contacted Hounds & Gatos and was told they sold the cannery but would be back to full production soon. Very frustrating may have to switch brands or retailers.
