For the Thermo-Pet Lounge Sleeper Heated Bolster Dog & Cat Bed, we recommend that the heating pad be checked periodically to ensure it is functioning properly. While it’s not necessary to test it every time you plug it in, a good practice is to check it occasionally—such as during seasonal use or once every few weeks—by feeling for warmth after it’s been plugged in for about 15–20 minutes.

Does the heat pad shut off or stay on?

There is not an off/on switch. The pad is always on when plugged in.

The bed can remain plugged in 24/7. It uses a low-wattage heating element that is thermostatically controlled, meaning it will automatically adjust to maintain a safe and comfortable temperature for pets. Additionally, all K&H heated products are tested and certified by MET Labs to meet recognized electrical safety standards, similar to UL certification. As with any electrical appliance, we recommend unplugging the bed if you leave your home for an extended period, such as a vacation or a long weekend.

check for loose threads! cover not very durable

If the cats were to rate this they give it a 5. The heating is perfect. It's nice and low. Bed feels just warm to the touch. When cleaning it out today I found a clump of loose threads in the crevice where the seam is sewn. This could be a huge safety issue and expensive vet visit. Also as good at the heat is the cover seems not very durable. After 2 weeks w/2 geriatric 10 lb cats it's showing lots of pulls and loose fluff. Might be for them kneading on it but none of the other pet beds/ikea bath mats they do that to look like this. I wish they made it w/fake fleece instead.

Underwhelming

The bed does not really have structure and enough "fluff" to be supportive as bed. The heater part is small for the size of the bed - it is only approximately 12"

Pass!

I'm very disappointed in this heated dog bed. While visiting my daughter she had the oval style for her MinPin and he loved it, I could feel it was slightly warm

I'm very disappointed in this heated dog bed. While visiting my daughter she had the oval style for her MinPin and he loved it, I could feel it was slightly warm. I decided to get one but chose a different style by same manufacturer; however it's only warm on the bottom of the bed not the top where your dog would actually lay down. I really would prefer a refund since it doesn't function as a heated bed.

Cozy and the new instant fave

My supersenior cat has had a favorite bed for years that has gotten crusty and sad no matter how much I wash it. I got this bed to hopefully be an adequate replacement

I got this bed to hopefully be an adequate replacement and even straight out of the box while I was airing it out he beelined for it. He hasn't taken to a specific cozy spot in years.
