why is it not recommended for Ford F Series?

The Direct to Seat Belt Swivel Tether is not recommended for for Ford F series trucks because of reports from customers that the metal flange is not compatible with all of the buckles in these vehicles and there is the potential that it may become stuck in them.

Can you use this with a collar and not a harness?

This tether is designed for use with a harness. For the safety of your pet, it should not be attached to a collar.

Great idea. What if your dog steps on seat belt buckle button and unbuckles himself/ herself?

While it's entirely possible that a pet could step on the button to release the seatbelt, it's not likely. As it does take a good amount of force and the button needs to be pressed in, simply stepping on the button would not likely provide enough force to release it.

Is this crash tested? If used with the kurgo harness, is it just as effective as the seat belt loop attachment?

This collar tether is not crash tested. This tether has a swivel carabiner that keeps helps you keep things straight, and the tether can live in the car, while keeping your dog safe.

Perfect for my big boys: sturdy, metal fasteners, well made, and long enough for them to sit up, lay down and just be comfortable, and kept in the backseat. We hook to their harness, never the collar as I've seen so many ppl do, UGH. These work very well for my boys: 103 lb Am Bulldog, 120 lb Staff Terrier, 102 lb Blue nose pitty.

This TETHER is very well made, however, if your dog likes to wiggle a lot, {while in the car} then this Tether might not work for your dog. (NOTE: Your dog will need to be in a HARNESS [sold separately] that goes around it's tummy, and hooks to the dog's back, but which will NOT HOOK TO THE DOG's NECK--- or your dog will hang himself!) So in a nutshell: if you have a LARGE DOG (eg: a Labrador or a Collie) then your dog might be able to sit still while in the seat and this Tether will probably work for you. However, our dog is a wiggly small Chihuahua Mix and she likes to jump all over the car...Thus, we put our Chihuahua in her HARNESS (sold separately) and then hooked up the HARNESS to the TETHER and she was able to wiggle herself in a knot since her HARNESS was hooked to her back. She was so stressed out that her arms got all half-in and half-out of her Harness. Therefore, I think this Tether is great if you have a LARGE DOG, however, if you have a tiny dog that is "hyper" like ours and wiggles a lot, then this Tether may not be enough to keep your tiny dog STILL!...It is all up to you and depends on your dog's ability to get out of her/his harness (while you are driving!).

Just what I needed

Had been attaching my beagle with a harness to the upper back window of the car where you would secure a car seat. He kept getting tangled up no matter how short

Had been attaching my beagle with a harness to the upper back window of the car where you would secure a car seat. He kept getting tangled up no matter how short the leash was. Tried a mesh car pet carrier, nope, he hated it and actually injured his eye pushing on it trying to get out. I saw this swivel tether, purchased it and it really works for us. No more tangling. I did invest in a seat belt buckle cover (made to prevent kids or others from releasing the seatbelt) just in case he stepped on the release. It all works really well. I wish I knew this a long time ago.

Easy and sturdy

Love how fast and easy it is now to buckle my dog in for a ride. She can look out the window, move around and not get tangled or be overly restricted.

This belt is super easy to use, just attach to a harness and buckle in. I love that it has an adjustable length. I can make it shorter for my corgi puppy or longer
