I think these would be interesting to try & would like my lovebird to be mentally engaged while eating. However I am concerned because mine is 16yrs old & would this be too difficult for him to eat? Don't want him to exhaust himself just trying to get a meal.

The Avi-Cakes are meant to stimulate birds with their natural foraging skills. It should be fine for an older bird to eat.

Depends how you serve it...

Used to leave this crumbled in a feeding dish, it was hit or miss with birds sporadically pecking at it. By end of day, pieces would harden, so then would be ignored

Used to leave this crumbled in a feeding dish, it was hit or miss with birds sporadically pecking at it. By end of day, pieces would harden, so then would be ignored. Then realized it might be best to offer up a slice standing straight up between 2 rocks in a holder. Now they devour it, that way, while it remains soft, so very little goes to waste. One must be creative serving our feathered friends, apparently.

This treat is also a food, so I don’t feel like I’m spoiling the birdies with poor diet, this is a great mix of seed and pellet in a form that can be easily broken

This treat is also a food, so I don’t feel like I’m spoiling the birdies with poor diet, this is a great mix of seed and pellet in a form that can be easily broken up, or kept in the larger pieces. My cockatiels love this food as well as my Quaker parrot, he likes to hold his food in his paw while he’s perched, to slowly enjoy his snack. This one product the birds never seem to tire of, a reliable treat that seems to always be fresh since it stays sealed in the resealable pack.

Hi there. I liked the avicakes better than my 3 parakeets did, they are afraid of them! Silly birds! Luckily, I have a friend who has a cockatiel and the bird loves them! I do try different things with my birds and I have bought other treats from Chewy and have intergrated them successfully so there’s nothing wrong with the avicakes, they’re just nervous of them. The avicakes are very fresh and they shipped out quickly. Thank you

My birds will not eat them anymore. They are so hard. They use to be both of my birds favorite thing when they were softer. I won’t be purchasing them anymore

Great treat!

My bird really loves his Avi cakes. It is by far his favorite treat and ranks right up there with millet spray. He gets excited when he sees me open the package

Buddy, my sun conure, loves this food! I’ve fed him this wonderful food for years. The pre-scored cake is easy to break or cut into pieces making it perfect for smaller parrots and tiels who like to grasp their food with a foot while eating. In addition, this particular formula does not list peanuts on the ingredient list. That’s a plus for me because peanuts and peanut dust is an allergen for me. Thanks Lefeber!!
