I expected this pail to be way more sturdy than the previous litter locker, an earlier model. It’s not and the door that opens and closes to keep the waste smell down slides out so easily it isn’t effective. Not an upgrade.

Litter zero is better. This wobbles like a table with uneven legs

I’m surprised by how “janky” this is. It’s wobbly and the drawer can’t be pulled out unless you’re also holding it with the other hand to keep the whole contraption

Best investment

Truly the best thing I could’ve bought for my cat. I always had a hard time scooping litter but for some reason this gets me scooping multiple times in the day

Poor design

There is a lip inside where the bags get stuck and tear open while you try to empty it. Ended up just throwing the whole genie away with a full bag inside.

Quality of the product~

I have heard of the diaper genie lol but do not have children other than my fur babies. I bought this to help with the odor and the Litter Genie exceeded my expectations

My first litter genie was your plastic standard one. I found it a very satisfactory solution to a very common problem. It controlled the odor and it reduced my contact to as minimal an amount as possible. But, I had some gripes For one, it felt very light with a higher than preferable center of gravity, making it unstable when trying to change the trashbag. Additionally, the lid would flop open when opening the pail to change the bag, dumping any pieces of litter that had not gone done into the bag onto the floor. So, when I had cause to get a second litter genie, I decided to upgrade to the metal version. I flew too close to the sun and what I found there was appreciably worse. Like the plastic version, the metal version has a suboptimal weight distribution and flops around while trying to empty the thing. Opening the hatch to change the bag requires you to push in and up at such an angle that it is difficult to do without putting your hand on the rim of the can that comes in contact with the dumped litter. The bags are smaller and contain less. Replacing the bag requires you to touch the inside of the bag unlike the plastic version. Finally, the lid only opens up to 90 degrees. So as you are flailing around trying to push up and lift a section of the lid, the top part of that lid keeps flopping closed. The plastic one is better designed. Please put a lip on the indent for the metal can or make the metal can that is the same as the plastic version.

Stink, Stank, Stunk

I honestly don’t understand the 4 or 5 star reviews for this thing. I’m baffled that almost no one mentions the obvious, the moment you open the top to add more waste, it reeks. Sure, when it’s fully closed and everything’s sealed in the bottom section, it’s fine. But the second you lift that lid to make a “deposit,” the smell hits you like a wall. And no, I’m not using it wrong. No, the odor locking barrier isn’t open. It was less disgusting to toss poop filled grocery bags straight into the trash than to open this thing and get blasted in the face by a multi-day poop conglomeration.

Too small for multi cat household

We have used a xl Litter Genie for several years. There is lots to like about this upgraded Litter Genie - easy to empty, closes well, no smells. But it is tiny

No instructions on how to open

Maybe I’m stupid but it’s very unclear on how to open the pail to refill bags. There’s no button like the plastic units have.
