How long is it effective after adding when pets have been drinking out of it? Does it still continue to work after tongues have been in the water bowl?
Answer by MarilynApr 30, 2022
Effectiveness: I change my pet's water twice daily. So, based on my routine, 12 hours. Tongues in the water: yes it continues to work. My pet occasionally sneezes after lapping water. Her sneezes didn't seem to affect the solution's effectiveness! Her dental hygiene continued to improve even after getting water up her nose. :)

Will this help remove tartar buildup?
Answer by ChewyApr 24, 2018
This product helps to fight tartar and gum disease.

If you have a lot of water bowls to fill for multiple pets could you mix up a gallon at a time
Answer by ChewyOct 20, 2018
You may prepare a gallon at a time for your pets. Just add one capful per one liter of water. You will need approximately 4 capfuls for a gallon of water.

I have a multi cat household that drink from the same water bowls. Is this safe for cats that do not have any teeth?
Answer by ChewyDec 22, 2020
It is absolutely safe and it will help keep the gums healthy for those cats that are missing teeth.

It works!

Both my cats hate having their teeth brushed. I’ve tried every toothpaste on Chewy with no luck. My vet recommended me Oxyfresh to keep plaque off their teeth. I started with the recommended sensitive dose for a week. My cats drink out of mugs, so I poured 1/8 a teaspoon into the mug with 8oz of water. I poured the water into the mug in front of the cats to show them that the water is fresh. They first were cautious for 2 days then started drinking the Oxyfresh after. The cats teeth looks very clean and I could notice a difference. I would also recommend that for fussy cats, pour the water in front of them.

Oxyfresh dental water additive

I’ve been using this daily in the water for my cat and dog, they don’t seem to notice it’s in their water. We’ve noticed the older dogs breath isn’t as offending and his teeth look whiter. The vet said he’s too old to sedate for regular cleanings anymore. So we’re happy to have healthier gums and teeth for now

Seizure & Vomiting!

Started my dog on this & less than 2 days later he lost all sense of balance, couldn’t hold himself up, had a seizure & threw up twice. He’s a 4y/o pitbull who’s super energetic & never had anything like this happen before so pretty odd it happens so quickly after using this product. Won’t be purchasing again & wouldn’t recommend. Beware!

Yes it works

I've been putting this in the cat water bowl for over a year now, and it does help with minor bad breath. If bad breath is strong and persistent, it's likely due to a decaying tooth, which should mean a trip to the vet. Last fall my kitty had her teeth checked, and they were very clean, which I think is due to this product.

It seems to be helping

My dog's breath is terrible. I need to work harder on her dental health, but in the meantime I ordered the oxyfresh water additive and I'm actually smelling a difference in my dog's breath. I think it's a good way to start good dental health for my dog, especially since I haven't been doing it prior to this. There is apparently no taste and my dog has not given me any indication that she won't drink the water because of the Product. Again, I think this is a great idea and it makes me feel good knowing I'm doing something to contribute to my dog's dental health.

worked great!

Have tried a few water additives but my 15 yr old maltese with kidney disease obviously could taste or smell them and wouldn't drink the water, this one he'll drink and it has defintely helped with his bad breath

Good product - only one complaint

I have two labrador retrievers that have had issues with bad breath. Combined with a dental cleaning, I have found this to be an excellent product and the problems with breath are gone, even a year after the cleaning. I order the 1 gallon size because it's more cost effective. However, be warned that this size comes with a pump adapter that I find useless. It gets thrown out - it is too large of a pump for the small dose I need for a bowl of water, and the added hight to the gallon jug makes it difficult to store out of site in my kitchen. As far as I can tell, the web page doesn't advertise that this size comes with a pump adapter.

it works in combination with other dental care

This stuff alone doesn’t take care of dirty dog teeth but does help breath. We use this, milk bone dental bones, and plaque off for sparkly white teeth. We do measure out the amount and it seems like a lot for how much water, but I trust that it’s tested and works at that strength.

No harm, no foul

I have been giving this to my 10 month old corgi and my 6 year old cat for about a month now. I have seen no discernible change. They haven't had any weird bathroom trips because of it, which is good. I'm going to keep giving it to them until it's gone. My housemate's two shiba inus have been using it too and I haven't noticed their breath being super stinky recently, but they still have a lot of plaque. All in all, it's fine, but I'm not sure if it's something you should rely on to clean teeth. I think it would probably be better if you supplemented it with brushing.

Excellent product

I was a little skeptical that a liquid in water could get my dog's teeth clean. My pomeranian's teeth look really good now compared to what they were looking like and that's a miracle. And the new large size bottles is more economical.
