Silicone ones didn't work because my beast of a cat would tear through the slits and consume the torn off silicone in his rush to eat. The boy would eat so fast and throw it all up everyday. It's heavy enough to where for where he only kept trying to knock it over before (and I will admit, he did succeed a few times before chilling as he got older). I do wish the base was a bit more flared and weighted though, as it is possible to knock over if he's determined enough.

Poppy is a 6-year-old Pekingese, about 15 pounds, with the classic short-and-wide Peke build. She also has IVDD, was paralyzed twice and had 3 major spinal surgeries, so we use raised bowls to help keep her comfortable. This slow feeder is the perfect height for her, and it really helps slow her eating since she also likes to gobble her food. The design is SO CUTE!!! If I saw it on a shelf in a store, it would have been picked up immediately. I will order this in every color available. The only drawback is the hollow bottom, which fills with water in the dishwasher. It is easy to avoid by washing it by hand, and the bowl does clean up nicely either way. Even though it looks like it might be top-heavy, it is surprisingly stable. Poppy can be an enthusiastic eater and she still hasn’t tipped it over. I added photos to show how well it works for her size and posture.

Easy to clean and just the right height for a cat. I use a spatula to press his wet food in between the ridges, really enjoy how the ridges aren’t too raised so it’s a bit easier for him to lick out his food. If his food isn’t in a slow feeder it’s gone in 2 minutes, but with a slow feeder his feeding time nearly doubles to 5 minutes. Just be careful when handling when wet or tired because this bowl is entirely ceramic and can be a little heavy. Bowl came in a secure product box and survived the delivery.

My cat loves this bowl. He was investigating it before it even came out of the box. The bowl is breakable but packaged very well. It is thoroughly packed in Styrofoam inside the box. The bowl itself consists of beautiful, bold colors that would fit in any kitchen (or cat feeding) space. Once I put the food in the new bowl, my cat went straight for it. He had no problems navigating the maze and licked the bowl clean. It did slow down his eating quite a bit which is a positive in that the food settles easier and there is less chance of spitting it back up from eating too quickly. I would recommend purchasing this bowl.

All of my little dogs love this adorable food dish. I know it is supposed to be a slow feeder, however it works great for older dogs who are missing teeth and use the ridges in the bowl to help scoop up the food. I also like that it is made of ceramic and not plastic and that it is slightly raised to a more comfortable feeding level. It will not work on larger dogs as they will tip it over, but otherwise it is a great multifunctional food bowl.

I know that these types of bowls are typically used for cats but my small Shih Tzu used it and loved it! The quality of the bowl is 5 stars; it’s heavy, doesn’t move around, and the glaze is high quality. The tilt of the bowl and low edges can be useful if you have picky cats with whisker stress. The slow feeder works great too, and it only holds around 1 cup of food. It’s cute and I definitely recommend.

Bought it for our overweight cat. She eat so quickly she will throw up. I really liked the idea as it worked well with our dog to slow down her eating. Our kitty had fun with it with her wet food and also when I have tossed bits of her hard food in there as well. She does take longer to eat, she does like the entertainment value of the dish.
