Anyone have this ? How do you keep your tank covered as well as having this ?

Answer by ChewyDec 14, 2017
From customer reviews a lot of customers leave the other side open, the turtle won't be able to jump out unless there are other items closed to the sides for leverage.

What heat lamp and bulb is recommended for this?

Answer by ChewyMar 05, 2018
The Turtle Topper is designed to be used with two (2) 5.5" clamp lamp fixtures (not included). A good general guideline is to use a 75 watt basking/heat bulb in one (1) fixture and a 5.0 compact UVB bulb in the other fixture. Always research the specific requirements of your turtle.

Is there any way I can make it easier for my turtle to get onto the platform? I have a 1 year old yellow bellied slider and he’s tried to get onto the platform multiple times but it seems to be too steep for him.

Answer by ChewyJun 14, 2018
Based off reviews from other customers, they have tried turtle safe grip and shelf liners on the ramp and it made a huge difference.

Is the topper for tanks 14 inches across? I saw the 17.5 inches in the description but I didn’t know which direction that was.

Answer by ChewyMay 18, 2020
The way the Turtle Topper fits on the tank, it is 17.5 inches left to right and 14 inches front to back. For it to fit on a tank, the tank must not be more than 13 inches from the front wall to the back wall.

This fit on our 20 ga tank just fine. IT really is the only option I could find - all other options were no longer being made or available for sale. Our aquatic turtle has gotten much larger than we expected, but after a few struggling attempts figured out how to get up the ramp just fine and seems to enjoy "sunning" up there (we place the food there). The only issue we had was with the water level higher, the turtle is able to hook the edge of the tank in the ~13" opening left by the platform. I cannot find a cover for the gap and don't want a DIY looking solution, so it has been a challenge to close the open side.

Easy to install

Once putting it together it just fits easily on top of the tank but feels very secure. Emerald is a fan.

I really like the underwater perch.

I just wished that the entry area was a little longer, my big turtle is having a little trouble climbing up it.

I have a 75 gallon rectangular tank, the topper fits great! My red eared slider is 5 years old, and about a 11 inches long completely stretched out from tip of his nose to the tip of his beautiful claws. this fits him comfortably, but I don’t know if 2 of him would fit at the same time. Might be a little cramped.

We have had our red eared slider for over 10 years and she has grown, A LOT. Hope to create a larger space for her this summer, but for now, she uses this space to bask. We have had to cover it with paper so she doesn't shoot into the water thinking someone is trying to pick her up.
