Poor design
The stored kibble doesn’t come out of the basin without manual intervention - like shaking it - which defeats the purpose of having a gravity feeder. Even after cutting away as much plastic as possible, in order to remove the lip and make the hole larger at the bottom of the canister, the food still barely comes out into the bowl.
Nice idea but poor design
So I bought this hoping to find something to feed our cats while we were away on a long weekend so I didn't have to bother the neighbors. I read reviews for multiple products and decided to try this one. Well, thankfully I decided to try it out before leaving, because it most certainly doesn't work like it's supposed to. The food gets stopped up and won't fall through, and the cats did not hold back in voicing their displeasure over the situation this morning. Should have saved the money and just set out extra bowls of food for them!
Purrfect
Self feeder is a slow release of Henry kibble. Also he is not a chow cat.
Poor Design
This gravity feeder is poorly designed. The opening where the food should continue to fall into the bowl has a lip so the food stops. Once the food in the outer bowl is gone, no more food falls into the bowl unless you shake the container, which defeats the purpose of the food be readily available for your pet. I will be returning this product.
Excellent Top Loader
I've had various gravity feeders over the years, and this is my favorite so far. Top loading is preferable when to don't want to play the "flip the full container over every single time" game.The lid comes off easily if you grab it in the middle at the click/latch tab spot, but also clicks/stays on securely, which prevents large spills if it gets bumped over. As with any gravity and all gravity feeders, you either pull food down for your spoiled animals, or you go the extra mile and actually teach them how to pull it down themselves. If they are truly hungry, and not just spoiled, they will stick their paw in there and scoop it themselves. Don't let them fool ya lol
Hard to fill
The top opening is smaller than I expected. Hard to get food in dish without spilling. Opening at bottom is small also food doesn't always drop you have to shake feeder.
Not wonderful
I bought this because it appeared to be a better gravity feeder than the ones I had previously. The lid is not easily removed--it pries off and the opening in the food holder is pretty small. Will not buy again--I have several cats that share the feeder and it required frequent shaking the food down and prying off lid to refill.
This is almost perfect for us.
This holds about enough food to last my 3 cats for 4 days. A gravity feeder was necessary for my cat with inflammatory bowel disease, since he can't eat a whole meal at once, and instead has to eat slowly all day. The only complaint I have is that the food occasionally gets stuck and I have to prod it a few times to get the food into the bowl.

Food dispenser not a water dispenser
Chewy was kind enough to send me new ones after the first 2 I bought were not meant for water but the 2 they sent me are not either. Food dispenses fine but the water does not stop and just keeps flowing. I don't know if it's missing a component but it's definitely not meant for water. I saw in reviews people using it for water and the description says water and food, so idk...
