I have a cat and have used the cat and dog Plaque off (1 bottle only) and am in need of reordering. I didn't realize that there was a cat version of plaque off. What is the difference and should I switch products?
Answer by ChewyNov 07, 2017
The ProDen PlaqueOff Powder Cat Supplement is formulated specifically for cats and contains brewer's yeast. The ProDen PlaqueOff Powder Dog & Cat Supplement is made compatible for both cats and dogs. It is made of only 100% North Atlantic seaweed.

is this product Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC.org) certified?
Answer by ChewyNov 23, 2019
This supplement is accepted by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC).

The ProDen supplement for cats and dogs does not have a precaution for hyperthyroidism. So is the precaution on this cat-only product due to the addition of brewer's yeast? Is the ProDen supplement for cats and dogs ok to give to a pet with hyperthyroidism even though this one is not?
Answer by ChewyJul 06, 2019
Animals having problems with the thyroid gland must be careful with their intake of iodine. Since algae, including Ascophyllum nodosum, have a naturally high iodine content, we do not recommend that animals with thyroid problems use this product without a prior consultation with a veterinarian.

How many doses are there in 40g bottle
Answer by ChewyJan 10, 2018
This product contains approximately 6 to 12 months supply but it'll depend on the weight of your pet.

Possible Consideration for Bad Kitty Breath

Houdini has bad breath -EEW. He’s also a very picky and suspicious eater. Trying to give him anything but his food is not met with positive results. I have two other cats, all who share the same food bowls. I sprinkled some of the Plaque Off in Houdini’s favorite food and Apollo keeps eating it instead. Unfortunately, Apollo then starting barfing several times a day and I stopped putting this in their food. I cannot say for sure Apollo’s reaction was directly related to the Plaque Off, but I can say his barfing has stopped once I stopped putting the supplement in the food. This method is too difficult for picky cats like Houdini and has to be monitored for multi-cat homes.

Safe product!

My cats don’t like have their teeth brushed, so I needed a product that would prevent the buildup of plaque and tartar. This product is listed on the Veterinary Oral Health Council website and I figured I’d give it a try. My cats didn’t even notice I added this to their food and I’ve noticed a change in the smell of their breath for the better, as per the plaque and tartar buildup I have noticed a difference.

I recommend this

My cat had bad breath and the Vet said he had some plaque on his back teeth but nothing bad, I looked at the reviews for this and since they were good I thought I would try it. Over a week and nomore bad breath. I won't know about the plaque until he goes for a checkup.

The stuff works!

We have five cats and used to have yearly cleanings for all of them, which was a rodeo for them and major dollars for us. We started using this on our vet's recommendation and now only one of the cats needed a dental. The kitties are happy as are our wallets. Yay Plaque Off!

No more bad breath

This seems to be the only thing that helps with my cats bad breath. When I ran out for a few months I noticed her breath started getting bad again. She doesn't mind the taste either.

Too soon to tell

One of my kitties has stomotitis and this was recommended by my vet after they pulled about 13 of his teeth. I give 1/2 scoop to each of my kitties once a day in their wet food. Too soon to tell if it is working, but if it can help save the few teeth he has left and help my other kitty maintain good dental hygiene, I'm okay with continuing to try it.

Seems to help with rank breath

My cat has had the nastiest breath for a while and brushing her teeth didn't seem to help that much. We started giving her this stuff a week ago and her breath this a lot less dank. Hopefully over time it will eliminate her garbage breath completely.

Proden Plaque Off

Unfortunately, my one cat didn’t like the product mixed in her food. My other cat didn’t mind, but it is way too early to give a review. It’s only been a few weeks.

My cat loves it

I don’t know what it is about it, but my cat absolutely loves this stuff. She’s eaten her wet food more quickly and enthusiastically every day since I’ve started adding this. At this point, I don’t even care if it also helps her teeth, I’ll keep buying it just to make sure she keeps eating well.

Beneficial

Have been given this to our cats for sone time. Had our 5- year old in for a check up and seems he has plaque build up on his back teeth. It may be worse if never had the Plaque Off.... who knows. Will still give it to them.
