I have a cat and have used the cat and dog Plaque off (1 bottle only) and am in need of reordering. I didn't realize that there was a cat version of plaque off. What is the difference and should I switch products?
Answer by ChewyNov 07, 2017
The ProDen PlaqueOff Powder Cat Supplement is formulated specifically for cats and contains brewer's yeast. The ProDen PlaqueOff Powder Dog & Cat Supplement is made compatible for both cats and dogs. It is made of only 100% North Atlantic seaweed.

is this product Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC.org) certified?
Answer by ChewyNov 23, 2019
This supplement is accepted by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC).

The ProDen supplement for cats and dogs does not have a precaution for hyperthyroidism. So is the precaution on this cat-only product due to the addition of brewer's yeast? Is the ProDen supplement for cats and dogs ok to give to a pet with hyperthyroidism even though this one is not?
Answer by ChewyJul 06, 2019
Animals having problems with the thyroid gland must be careful with their intake of iodine. Since algae, including Ascophyllum nodosum, have a naturally high iodine content, we do not recommend that animals with thyroid problems use this product without a prior consultation with a veterinarian.

How many doses are there in 40g bottle
Answer by ChewyJan 10, 2018
This product contains approximately 6 to 12 months supply but it'll depend on the weight of your pet.

So far so good

My vet wanted me to have my cat get her teeth cleaned, the minimum price with just the cleaning was almost $400 and if teeth would need to be extracted it would cost me almost $850. I don't have that kind of money to flush down the toilet. She suggested to brush their teeth or try this as well. Both of my girls are rescues, they aren't letting me brush teeth. So I put this in wet food, they both love gravy so extra water, stir it up and they eat it all no problem. I am not paying to have either one put under for a teeth cleaning. Besides, they give you possiblities of them not coming out of the anesthstetic, NOPE I cannot lose either one of my girls.

I think it works!

I can't really brush any of my 5 cats teeth and the vets don't normally do it unless it's bad. I have been using a water additive and even this gel one I added for a while. But we went to the vet after I used this for like a week and they didn't mention any plaque build up like they normally do!

still deciding

My cats consume this just fine, I don’t think they even notice this when mixed into their food with hydration. I’ll continue to use this and try monitoring their teeth. One thing I was disappointed by was opening up the container and it being only half full. I get that this still met the oz amount stated on the bottle but it was still kind of funny that it was only half full.

Works for elderly cat

My 17-year-old cat had never had bad breath, but it started getting really funky. Her back teeth didn't look so good either. I was worried that dental problems would cause her pain and stress, so gave this a try about 6 months ago. She had a vet appointment four days ago, and the vet remarked on her pearly whites, which made me so happy. Aging is hard on cats, and anything I can do to help her in her golden years is a win! Photo of my sweet Rosa for tax. :)

Just don't know yet

I am using the product once a day....or I should say Mimi is using the product. Her breath is better....but don't know about her teeth yet. I have never been any good at looking into a cat's mouth. She resists and I give up. I will have to have the vet look. I will post the results when I get some.

Bad breath be gone!

At our cat's annual physical, the vet noticed some plaque/tartar build up on her back teeth and recommended this powder. She's been fine with the taste but I won't know if it's actually working until or next visit. I will say her breath isn't as bad as it was, so hopefully that's a good sign.

Cat hated it

My kitten refused to eat his food with this on it. Even after mixing it thoroughly with his canned food he would not touch it

cats wouldn’t eat

Six paws down from my cats. They wouldn’t touch any food with this in it, no matter how little I tired to hide in their food.

My cats wouldn't eat it

I sprinkled this on my cats food and they refused to eat their wet and dry foods. Not sure what about it, but my cats didn't want to try this at all.

waste of money

she won't eat her food when you add this to it. It states that is a brewers yeast, you would think that could cause gut issues.
