Convincing your cat to eat when she’s experiencing gastrointestinal upset from a parasite or infectious agent is far from easy; but when the prescribed food tastes great and is easily digestible, there’s a good chance she’ll meow for more. Formulated to relieve GI upset, one of the most common reasons cats are brought to veterinarians, Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Naturals Dry Cat Food utilizes a low carbohydrate approach for your cat's unique needs. It contains a plentiful portion of highly-digestible protein, an important factor since GI upset impairs a cat’s ability to digest and absorb nutrients. Plus, it’s made with natural ingredients you know and trust, with added vitamins and minerals to nutritionally manage GI upset in cats.

Key Benefits
  • Gastrointestinal upset is one of the most common reason cats visit the vet. It can be caused by many factors and generally impairs a cat's ability to digest and absorb nutrients.
  • Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN has been specifically formulated with the high protein levels that your cat needs, as well as prebiotics, low fiber to support intestinal health and natural ingredients that you recognize and trust.
  • It has excellent palatability, low carbohydrates, and moderate fat levels so it provides your cat with optimized nutrition.
  • Suited for cats that have gastritis and enteritis, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, and other diseases of the intestinal tract.
  • Made in the USA!

  2. At checkout, you’ll be asked for required information. Enter your pet’s name and type your vet’s name and telephone number.
  3. Place your order, and we’ll take care of the rest!

How will you contact my vet?

Our Vet Diet team will personally contact your vet for approval. If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we’ll let you know immediately.

Does it help if I send you my prescription?

Yes! If you have a paper copy of your prescription, email a picture to vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat, or fax your prescription to 1-800-619-7973.

Can I use a prescription written by a veterinarian out of state?

Of course! We can accept valid prescriptions from anywhere in the United States and Canada—that includes US territories, like Puerto Rico.

Why do I need a prescription?

Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. If you don’t have a paper prescription, no sweat—once you provide your vet’s information, our team will take over.

Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?

Yes, but we’ll need them to provide us with your full name or the pet’s owner’s name via phone, email or chat after the order is placed, so the clinic can locate your pet’s records when we contact them.

How can I help expedite my order?

Just follow these simple steps: 1. Create your pet ’s profile on Chewy.com. 2. If you have an Autoship scheduled, but you’re running low on refills, contact us ahead of time to let us know if you have a new clinic or if any prescription information has changed. 3. If you have a prescription handy, send it to us before you order—by sending an email to vetdiet@chewy.com, starting a chat with one of our experts, or faxing us at 1-800-619-7973.

Do I need to set up a pet profile?

We recommend it, but it’s not required. You can create your pet’s profile by logging in at Chewy.com, hovering over your account, and choosing “pet profile.”

Do prescriptions expire?

Yes. Your vet will tell us when your prescription will expire and how many refills we can send before they’d like you to check back in with them.

Can I set up auto refills?

Yep! Sign up for Autoship and we’ll automatically ship your food for as long as your prescription allows. If you run out of refills, or your prescription expires, we’ll automatically contact your vet for a new approval. If we hit any bumps in the road, we’ll let you know right away.

Excellent Veterinary GI Blend cat food...

    By on

I have two cats. Both are rescues. One a Siamese-DSH...3.5 years...and the baby... almost 1...were both sickly babies. [You name it. They had it.] In addition, the Siamese-DSH has had GI/ vomiting/ hairball issues since birth. Nothing has corrected the problem. Switching from RC GI Veterinary to Purina GI Veterinary has worked thus far. They love the food. What I like is that Purina is less expensive than RC and Purina animal feed and pet food has been around for at least a century. That's definitely good enough for me...and them.

    comfort food

    By on

I provide hospice care for Senior Terminal cats. Some have bowel lymphoma and many who carry Corona virus that kicks up in end stage renal failure. Purina EN is one of the 2 gastrointestinal diets that WORK When dealing with terminal illness the biggest obstacle is foods that provide balance and more importantly, comfort. EN is a very palatable food that works!!!

    Food makes a HUGE difference...

    By on

One of my older cats threw up after every meal. After starting her on the "EN", she is able to hold down what she eats. I started mixing it into the rest of my "clan's" dry food also and I almost never have to clean up a mess. All of them seem to be doing very well now (for over a year) by mixing (in thirds) EN, NF, and "Purina Naturals ORIGINAL" formula. I DO NOT use "Purina Naturals INDOOR" formula as it made them sick.

Good results and my cat loves it.

    By on

My vet recommended ProPlan En Naturals when she was picky about the regular EN. She loves the Naturals (unfortunately, all the other cats do too) and it's working very well for her.

    Dry Food Heaven

    By on

This prescription dry food seems to do the trick for a finicky cat with a very sensitive digestive system. The bits are half the size of the other dry food products and that seems to agree with him. It must be easier for an 8 year old to digest.

    Unfortunately EVERBODY LOVES THIS

    By on Top 250 Contributor

Finally a veterinary gastro. diet without by-product meals!! Yipee. And to top that off, the cats absolutely love this dry food to the exclusion of other high quality kibble. The kitty for whom this was purchased has 'crossed over the bridge' but I will probably ask the vet for a new RX with 12 refills so the remaining old timers have a gentle-on-the-stomach kibble. Purina made a winner with this formula!
