We have been battling diarrhea caused by IBD for two years! This product has been life changing, not just for us, but for Schatzi. She went from 8-10 runny deliveries each day to 1-2 solid deliveries each day. Our Golden Harper Lee loves it too, even though she has no digestive issues. I am so happy I tried this food.
My GSD has a notoriously sensitive stomach. Almost anything, will give her diarrhea, so I mosy home cook for her. But i tried to give this food a try. The good news is that she generally accepted it, it gave here some really bad gas the first week or so but it went away after. After about 2 weeks of serving this food alone she did stop esting about half of it, but I don't hold this against it, everyone has their taste. What I do hold against it is the ingredients list to proce ratio. As many noticed, the first ingrediant is not even meat. And the "meat" it does have is a meal, so who knows what it in it. The rest of the list is long of fillers too. Don't get me wrong, maybe this diet is what your dog needs. When I home cooked for my dog I played with the protein % to see if it would help. But this food is on the top teir price point, so judging by that, it is not worth the money. That is why we are transitioning to Origen amazing grains.
The hands of time have turned back about 2 years since feeding my Shepherd this formula! My dog “wants to eat” this and has considerably more energy, to my surprise. I initially tried this brand hoping to address a possible sensitive stomach issue. She responded well by “liking” the food but I didn’t expect her to have renewed energy! A very unexpected surprise! The expense is/was an issue, but with these results, I am happy I tried this formula!
Due to soft stools which were difficult to clean up with poop bags, my 16 month old GSD, Tucker, needed a better quality dry food and my vet recommended Royal Canin. In just 2 weeks, his stools are firmer and easier to collect. Tucker enjoys crunching the unique shape of the kibble mixed with his canned wet food.
I have a German Shepherd, and my vet mentioned that he feeds his German Shepherd this brand. Well, gave it to my dog, mixed it in with her other food for a few days. She loves this Royal Canin German Shepherd food. Plus with Chewy, it is delivered really fast to our home.
My 130 pound shepherd simply did not approve. I switched my dog’s usual Royal Canin Large Breed dog food to this particular type of food for German Shepherds in hope that my dog would get more nutrients for his breed. He refuses to eat it. I didn’t think there would be any difference in flavor, but whatever is in this particular food, he just does not like. I will be switching back to his usual food. Royal Canin is the brand I trust. However, I may have to donate this $$$ bag of food that he will not eat.
My Belgian Shepard loves this food and it was a great transition to adult food from her puppy chow-type food. My labrador also loves the food sop much I'm thinking of going to one food for all. Has large nuggets rather than those pill shaped pellets of the other foods, which they never actually chew. This gets them chewing rather than gulping food down.
Ruger likes this food so much that he eats his own poop. Strictly fed Royal Canin, nothing else. Also have a family member who has a Shepherd that does the same, incredible stuff!
I have 9 y.o. German shepherd and sensitive stomach is common problem in this breed. After thorough research I found out that this particular dry food is the best for GS. My dog truly loves this food! What I really like is that pebbles are right size - not too big, not too small so hungry dogs wouldn't chock. Also, food is not too greasy and not too dry. Highly recommend to the other German shepherd owners
Keeps my dogs coat amazing, he was allergic to something in other pretty good brands, we couldn't find out exactly what but this stuff is definitely breed specific. I always add a cup of chopped protein and some homemade stock but he loves it. Keeps him active, healthy, from scratching and at an amazing weight. Just a little pricey but worth it.
