This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your cat's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.
Why Pure Breed Cats Need Tailored Nutrition
Even though pedigree cats are usually kept indoors, they may have breed-specific needs that go beyond the needs of other indoor cats. It's important to address those needs with specialized nutrition. When choosing a formula, keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed, including:
Face and Jaw: Pure breed cats come in many different jaw shapes and sizes. Some breeds have broad jaws (like Ragdolls) while others have large, square-shaped jaws (like Maine Coons) or flat, short jaws (like Persians). The jaw type and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.
Skin Types: Not all cat breeds have the same body type. Some have long and muscular physiques while others have imposing statures that can put strain on joints. Precise levels of key nutrients help support a breed's unique needs for their body type.
Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From different hair lengths to undercoats, each pure breed cat has a unique coat with unique needs.
Breed Specific Formulas
Every cat is unique - especially pure breed cats. After years of research and partnering with a network of veterinarians and breeders, Royal Canin has developed a line of tailor-made formulas to suit the needs of pure breed cats perfectly.
Formulated for Maine Coons
Royal Canin's Maine Coon Dry Cat Food is designed for Maine Coon cats over 15 months old.

Healthy heart: Maine Coon Dry Cat Food contains nutrients such as taurine, EPA and DHA, which may contribute to cardiac health.
Bone & joint health: Maine Coons are the tallest and heaviest of pure breed cats. Their imposing stature can put a strain on joints. This formula is enriched with Omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) to help maintain healthy bones and joints.
Healthy skin & coat: Maine Coons have a dense coat with a fine undercoat. This formula includes a combination of amino acids, vitamins and fatty acids (Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids) to help maintain skin and coat health.

Exclusive Kibble
Maine Coon Dry Cat Food features a king-size tailor-made kibble that's adapted to Maine Coons' unique, large squared-shaped jaw, encouraging them to chew.

Why Royal Canin?
Over time, Royal Canin has accumulated vast knowledge about cats and dogs that only extensive research, scientific study and tireless talks with pet professionals, veterinarians and owners can provide. That knowledge led them to develop precise nutrition for cats and dogs. Each Royal Canin formula is tailored to pets' size, age, lifestyle and breed and contains more than 50 perfectly balanced nutrients for the most effective diet possible.
Their focus on science puts pets at the heart of the formulation process, choosing only ingredients that optimize the food's nutritional content. Royal Canin also continues to invest heavily in new technology to ensure their quality and food safety systems remain state-of-the-art, so pets can continue to benefit from the latest in food health and nutrition.

Cat is loving this food!
By SacoDharma on Mar 6, 2021
My Maine Coon loves this food. He just turned one and I transitioned him to this adult food recommended by MC fans. I tried to transition it slowly, mixed with his kitten food, but he just picked around the old food to eat the Royal Canin!

Maine Coon "Crack"
By bside on Feb 19, 2021
To say our cat likes this would be an understatement. We fondly call it Maine Coon crunch, lunch-crunch or Maine Coon Crack. She goes nuts for this and it is as if her life depended on this one "treat". We supplement her moist food with this one dry food meal.

Big Sister

Temperance prefers her Maine Coon dry food over her 3 house brothers food. The house brothers eat 2 different Hills dry and Nulo wet.

Size Does Matter
By Lmck on Nov 29, 2020
I bought this for my Maine Coon Kitty who had his teeth removed due to Stenosis. He is able to eat dry food and I like to give him the option to eat the wet food & the dry food. Unfortunately, the individual kibble nuggets are very large and he’s not at all interested in trying to eat it. In fact, my other two boys who will eat anything aren’t interested in it either. I understand that other MC cats love it, though ~

Crunchy and healthy
By Feefer on Feb 7, 2021
Don’t know how to recommend a cat kibble as I didn’t eat it myself LOL. I’m glad I ordered it though and Feefer crunches when he feels like it of course.

Big kitty, big kibble
By Shamie on Nov 24, 2020
My large kitty really appreciates the kibble size and doesn't inhale it the way he does most dry food.
