This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

High Quality Standard for Rescue Orgs
By Cassidy on Apr 11, 2021
I foster orphaned kittens and litters of kittens with moms, and this is the food recommended to use by every organization I foster for. The organizations usually provide me with this stuff for free, but sometimes I forget to schedule food pickups and buy it myself. I mix this food in a shallow plate with warm water to create a slurry that moms and weaning kittens like. Every cat and kitten I've had on this food drops BOMBS in the litter box, probably due to the high protein content. They also have the softest coats and brightest eyes after being on this stuff for a month. It's worth the cost and the smell.

Best food for mother cats and nursing, growing kittens!
By Heather on Apr 7, 2021
I give this food only to my female mother cats that have litters every time they do because it gives extra nutrition to the mother cat and to the growing babies while they're nursing from the mother. A bit expensive but worth it as it is the best wet food for mother cats and nursing kittens. I have seen it help the kittens grow!

Took a few tries but my kitten likes it
By nomnomi on Jan 24, 2021
I was a little surprised by the consistency because I thought it'd be even a bit softer but it's still a nice, soft consistency. It took a couple times for my kitten to warm up to it but he eats this all up! I don't feed him just this though because he's a little bit older (a little over 3 months) and because in the ingredients, meat by-products are some of the top ingredients. My kitten is growing and is very energetic!

The cats love it!
By IHaveCats on Mar 9, 2021
We had a mama cat who was barely eating the canned food we had for her. She would nibble here and there, but not eat much. I bought this and she chowed down like she'd not eaten. She loves it!

Best food for kittens

When I have a pregnant foster mama or foster kittens, I love using this food because it's so rich and so good for them.

Also great for injured and sick cats!
By ReenieQueenCat on Dec 30, 2020
This food was invaluable when my middle-aged cat had dental problems, causing her dry kibble (Royal Canin) to hurt her mouth when crunching. Kept up her strength and health while waiting for oral surgery, and sustained her for the weeks of healing afterwards. She never ate any of the many other canned foods I tried, but loved this one. Just sent a case of this canned food, and a bag of "Royal Canin Mother & Babycat" kibble to my brother, who recently adopted a sick kitten, who he says is gobbling it up, and doing well.

Perfect for young kittens
By Colzi on Dec 29, 2020
A stray kitten found me a couple weeks ago and didn't know how to eat food (must have still been nursing). I started her on formula and then eventually started mixing this in with formula for her transition to solid foods. The mousse-like texture is easier for her to eat than regular kitten wet food. She loves it and has transitioned well to solid foods with this.

Rescue babies love it
By MBWADD on Jan 3, 2021
We found two kittens in the rain in October. They were two days old, according to our vet. So we bottle fed them and, when it was time to wean them, we introduced Royal Cabin Mother and Babycat. They love it. I'm watching them grow into strong little girls and I'm so gratified knowing they're getting the nutrition they need.
