Worried About Your Dog’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your dog’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some dogs.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your dog can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out

Infection

Puppies, older dogs, and dogs that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your dog. These special formulations can:

Support digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

I have and English Bulldog who has had GI and yeast issues from the start. We were taking him to the vet about every 2 months because he'd get horrible diarrhea. The vet said he may be sensitive to the protein in the food, so we tried changing the type of protein...didnt help. Talked with the vet and what our options were and decided to give hydrolyzed food a try...and what a difference. He BM's have improved greatly and even his wrinkles and rope don't have yeast in them...it has all cleared up. And we had tried EVERYTHING (including prescriptions from the vet) to clear up the yeast. Who knew changing his food was the cure.

I recently noticed the formula was slight different but this past bag was VERY DIFFERENT. My dog has been eating this food for years and completely demolishes her food no problem until our recent shipment this December. She wasn’t finishing her food like before and was throwing up out of nowhere. Luckily, I still had a little bit of the previous bag so I compare the old & new batch. It’s bigger and more yellowish. I’m very disappointed in Royal Canin! We will be switching to another brand.

Beware!! New formula, no longer hypoallergenic!

My dog has been doing great on this food for over a year. The kibble looked different in the bag I purchased in October and my dog had allergies worse than ever

My dog has been doing great on this food for over a year. The kibble looked different in the bag I purchased in October and my dog had allergies worse than ever. She could not relax until recieving her first ever allergy shot. I wasn't sure if it was the food at that time. The following bag she had seemed to be back to normal, so despite the reviews I just purchased another. My dog has had one meal and is already itchy! I'm sad to try a new food. I hope they go back to what they were previously doing!!

Finally, a prescription food that my dog Cadbury eats. He was wasting away on a comparable diet from another manufacture. Somehow Royal Canin manages to make their kibble palatable, not just healthy for a dog with bladder issues. I truly appreciate that he is jumping up and down for dinner now instead of having to bribe him. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Both of my dogs have been on this for over 2 years. One of them suddenly got sick with horrible diarrhea. After 2 vet visits over 3 weeks, and bland diet it proved to be their food. Came back instantly after 2 weeks of complete elimination and reintroduction. After reading recent reviews since early November it solidified that something major changed and is making pets sick all of a sudden which isn’t great for a hypoallergenic diet.

I was concerned that my dogs would not be happy about being switched to a prescription diet, but they love this food. When I give them the dry food, I make "gravy" from a little bit of canned and mix it in. I also mix some of the canned with water and spread it on a lick mat, which they love frozen or refrigerated. They enjoy the dry pieces in their puzzles as well. So far, so good!

Dog with allergies uses Royal Canin now

We used to use Science Diet ZD, but our dog still kept getting ear infections and skin infections. I finally looked at the ingredients and it is Chicken - my dog is allergic to chicken so why did my vet insist on Science Diet? We switched him to Royal Canin and he won't even touch the ZD now. Hopefully this food helps him, as we have tried all the other hydratlized foods.

Good food for my dog with IBS but large kibble size

My dog was on hills prescription Z/D for many years. They changed the formula and really upset his stomach and put him in a bad way. to make a switch and switch to the Royal Canaan, which has been great to his stomach, but it’s very large kibble. He is a pug. Iwish they had a kibble size that was made for smaller dogs
