About Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Health For Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Digestion?

Your dog’s gastrointestinal (GI) system helps support the rest of the body by properly digesting food and making sure to extract the nutrients needed for overall health. Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best gastrointestinal health solutions and management options for your pet.

Know Your Dog’s GI System

  1. Stomach: the first part of the GI tract, where inflamation may lead to vomitting.
  2. Small Intestine and Pancreas: where the small intestine is responsible for absorption of nutrients within the diet and the pancreas aids in digestion; inflamation of the pancreas may be cause by a high fat diet or treats.
  3. Large Colon (Tranverse): which is responsible for forming stool.
  4. Large Colon (Descending): which is responsible for forming stool; any alteration to this process may lead to constipation or diarrhea.
  5. Rectum: where stool leaves the body

How Nutrition Can Help

Talk to your vet about your concerns for your pet's GI tract health. Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin GI formula that is:

Easily digestible to help reduce the load on the gastrointestinal tract

Formulated with omega-3 fatty acids, EPA, and DHA to aid digestive health and antioxidants to support a healthy immune system

Highly palatable to encourage eating, even when appetite is decreased due to gastrointestinal upset

Balanced for good digestion, with a blend of fibers and prebiotics to support digestive health

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Pickles can't get enough

WOW...Pickles a 3 yo Mini Aussie Doodle, a picky eater from day 0ne, chows this stuff down like there's no tomorrow. She has a very sensitive stomach had some serious gastro issues. This food had transformed her overnight. We mix in some Purina Miraflora and Royal Canin Gastro Diet kibble and the results speak for itself.

Excellent Food Excellent Service

This food is invaluable when you have a sick dog on your hands. Even if you're making them a homemade bland diet they will start to get tired of rice and chicken and Hamburger and that's where this food can be helpful. For our dog we've had days where she wouldn't eat anything not even freshly cooked chicken but she would eat this. I also want to commend CHEWY on this order. We couldn't find the food anywhere locally and our samples ran out. Chewy processed our order, verified the prescription I uploaded and had this food sitting on my porch two business days later. Absolutely stellar service when it mattered most.

Seems to fill the bill

Vet recommended this for our Miniature Schnauzer who was having intestinal problems. This seems to have reduced his symptoms. Delivery was prompt, but the approval process took a while longer than i expected. Don't know why this is not entirely computer based, rather than phone calls back and forth.

Great for my MSchnauzer’s Sensitive Stomach

Our girl is 10 and has survived 5 serious Pancreatitis attacks. After her last one this is the only food she can tolerate and she LOVES it. Thankful it’s available. Issue: I hear from our vet this is a manufacturer’s issue, not retailer, but the bottom 12 cans are dented too badly to use. BUT, I just received our latest order of 3 cases and ONLY 2 cans were dented. Wooohooo! Progress.

Royal Canin

The food is expensive no matter where you purchase it. But so far my nearly 15 year old chihuahua maybe gets benefits from it. The food alone, she just turns her nose up at it so I mix in boiled chicken breast meat with bits of carrots and green beans and a little unsalted chicken or beef broth and she will eat it but she doesn't run to it.

Good for the Peanut

My dog Peanut was having bad GI issues and this is the only "diet" food he will eat. My only wish is the price were a little more average joe friendly.

Absolute Fav

My beagle LOVES this food. She has been eating another prescription canned food for several years as she is 18 and as she has aged, her tummy has become more sensitive. I didn't think she'd go crazy for low fat loaf food, but she races to eat it and it seems to have given us back our 15 year old version of this special girl!

Excellent For Dog's Gastrointestinal Problems

My female dog has gastrointestinal problems and would throw up any other dog food that I gave her. Vet recommended this special dog food for her and she gobbels it up like there was no tomorrow. She has never thrown up this food and her intestinal problems appear to be clearing up. She is brighter eyed and more active now. Recommend this dog food highly.

11 year old loves it

Our 11 year old miniature poodle gobbles up this low fat dog food. We were initially anxious that she might not like a prescribed dog food for GI issues, but her bowl is licked clean every time. And good stools are a positive "end" result.
