Worried About Your Cat’s Skin Health?

Skin health concerns are common and can appear anywhere on your cat’s body. Your veterinarian is the expert on your cat’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best solutions for your pet. This specialized expertise is why Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop formulas that support skin health.

Common Causes of Skin Health Concerns

Environmental Sensitivities

Pollen, plants and dust are environmental factors that can trigger an immune response in some cats.

Food Sensitivities

Your veterinarian may recommend a diet elimination trial to help determine if your pet has a sensitivity to certain proteins in his current diet.

Parasites

Your cat can pick up external parasites such as mites, fleas, ticks and lice from contaminated sources, both indoors and out.

Infection

Kittens, older cats, and cats that have recently been ill may be more susceptible to bacterial infections that can lead to skin health concerns.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Dermatology formula for your cat. These special formulations can:

Support digestive health by regulating movement through the GI tract and supporting balanced digestive flora

Support the skin’s natural protective barrier

Aid cellular health with a complex blend of antioxidants.

Promote healthy skin and coat by providing long chain omega-3 fatty acids in the diet

Find The Perfect Balance

With a dry and wet feeding routine, dry food supports positive oral health while wet food supports healthy hydration.

Are these the only hydrolyzed cat treats on the market? They are impossible to find.

Answer by AimeeJan 05, 2022
I've been looking too. I've been buying these for a few years for my cat. He loves them. It's been rough being out of treats. Hopefully they are in stock soon.

How are these treats different than the Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Hydrolyzed Protein dry cat food?

Answer by ChewyApr 02, 2018
Th treats are made from the same formula but are shaped differently.

The ingredients list "hydrolized soy protein", then list chicken fat and fish oil, they are not hydrolized so how can this product be ok for a cat allergic to chicken?

Answer by ChewyMar 03, 2018
The allergen is located within the protein of the meat. Both chicken fat and fish oil do not contain any meat protein.

Are these treats crunchy or moist?

Answer by ChewyMar 30, 2018
These treats are crunchy.

My sweet eight year old cat has suffered with IBD since he was a kitten. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of food options that are available for his limited diet; even after eight years. So finding hydrolyzed (protein) treats that I can give him between meals was a huge find and satisfies him enough until his next scheduled meal. I always make sure that I have a bag on hand, because this item tends to go out of stock. Thank you Chewy or offering this hydrolyzed treat, you get the "paws of approval" from my special boy!

Treat time!

Mr. Blue, my Siamese rescue, has been on a prescription diet for 6 weeks ( trying to figure why he itches all the time) and it’s been tough because he loves treats. Finally broke down and ordered prescription hydrolized protein treats, and my boy couldn’t be happier! The diet food has made his coat softer and his scratching has been greatly reduced. The treats have just made him happy. Thanks to Chewy.com for getting the ok from my vet so quickly!

He absolutely loves them and I am extremely grateful these make his food more appealing to him while keeping him comfortable and providing allergy relief.

I feel like I have to rate this 5 stars for the sole reason I cant find any other HP cat treats. However! I will say even tho these are the only treats my cat can have, she loves them!! She's a little picky and doesn't eat them as greedily as some of the treats I used to give her before the diet, but she perks up every time I pick up the bag

Being on a restrictive diet, my cat could no longer have the same food or treats as my other cats. I knew he really missed having those.. I asked the vet what could he have for a treat. He definitely perked up when he got to have a treat of his own. Apparently they’re tasty. He definitely enjoys them. The only thing I noticed about the treats was that since they are shaped in a concave way on one side, I often have to flip them over for him, because he has trouble grasping them with his mouth. They kind of pushed away as he was trying to eat them. Maybe it depends on the surface they’re given on. This brand is known for doing a great job making their prescription foods palpable. I’m so grateful they do that.

Good Cat Treats

My cat has been on a strict diet most of her life due to her allergies and suffers from periodic spotty loss of hair, itching and open wounds from scratching.

Extremely Hard

One cat won't touch these. The other cat with food allergies seems to really like the flavor. However, they are too hard for her to eat and maybe also a bit too big. They get stuck in her throat and she gags them up. We tried breaking them up for her, but they are so hard you can only break one out of four or five. It's really a shame because she begs for something other than her limited ingredient food and she seems to like the flavor. We're afraid she'll choke on these. A company like Royal Canin should be able to do better. They need to come up with a safe Churu like treat for pets with food allergies.
