It is recommended that your cat be fed 2 - 4 equal portions of the diet per day.
Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.

Why should I buy veterinary diets from Chewy?
We offer competitive prices and free shipping on orders over $49. Plus, you'll save more if you sign up for automatic refills with Autoship at Checkout. Chewy experts are available 24/7 to answer any questions you have.
How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

I'm so sorry!
By Anna on Jan 17, 2021
First off I'm sorry I left Chewy to purchase the Royal Canin at one of our local stores. I thought the hassle of uploading my Vet. information would take too long. So I drove to a store that you can also purchase online. After 2 months the 2 local stores that carry Royal Canin were out of stock and online too. So thankfully I jumped on my auto-shipment of kitty litter and placed and order with Chewy! Even having to wait extra days to verify the prescription it only too 3 days to deliver! As always thank you for having products in stock and such quick delivery even during this trying time of Covid! This food has also helped my kitty so much too!

It works wonders
By Logan on Jan 31, 2021
This actually works on my cat. He went from horrible to tolerable. His frantic behavior calmed down. He no longer has the zoomies daily. He doesn’t demand playtime 24/7. He doesn’t nip at me when he doesn’t get what he wants. Finally, he sleeps during the night whereas before this food he slept just about 4-6 hours daily. The food is palatable. He likes it. I’m pleased.

Too soon to tell
By Dragonfly on Jan 29, 2021
My cat has only been eating the Calm food for a little over a week, (and I've had to mix it with the food she's used to eating, in order to get her to eat it..she's extremely finicky), so, I have not yet seen any noticeable difference in her behaviors...yet. Was recommended by my vet, so I'm hopeful about results.

Calm works wonders!
By Sweetbeest on Jan 14, 2021
We have a singleton cat that came to us as a kitten. He bit, hissed, growled & startled easily as he was abandoned by his Mom & didn’t have the influence of siblings. We have won him over with positive reinforcement, love & patience & affection. Royal Canin Calm has helped tremendously. Give it 2-3 months as daily kibble. There was never an issue about our kitty loving the food either.

This food is like a miracle...
By Benjo on Dec 14, 2020
i can't believe the immediate difference in my cat. This has literally saved her life. She was in a constant state of panic over her own reflection and shadow and she wouldn't stop attacking it. We had her on around the clock medication for months and she was have neurological effects from it. We detoxed her off the meds and switched to this food, and within 24 hours she is back to my normal, happy, relaxed kitty. I am so thrilled with this simple solution. She also really likes the food, and she is soooo picky!

Terrible Asthma & Skiddish Cat Relief Finally!!
By MoMo on Nov 11, 2020
Out of nowhere my poor furbaby started this awful AWFUL "coughing". At first we thought it was just a hairball, no biggie, but it got to the point where Mo was having these "fits" 10+ times a day. It was absolutely heartbreaking to watch... We immediately took him to the vet and found out he has horrible asthma (he is only 5!!), and is also very nervous/skiddish, so when he starts having these attacks, he panics, thus making it 1000 times worse. She suggested this food, and although it costs a lot, he only eats chicken flavor food ANYHOW and we only have one kitty, so we bought it. He is also on meds, but this food has made a MAJOR change in my little baby! He is gaining weight again, he's actually Out of nowhere my poor furbaby started this awful AWFUL "coughing". He is gaining weight again, he's actually greeting strangers and rubbing on their legs (which was unheard of !), and he is having way way less attacks (fingers crossed!!) I would highly recommend this food for panicky cats, or cats with asthma, because it is so awful to watch, especially bc our cat is terrified of his inhaler and won't let us help him!! What's $30 when you can have your kitty/kitties back? … more

I am happily surprised!
By Lori on Nov 17, 2020
Took kitties in to vet because I was moving and I wanted to ease their anxiety and mine. Vet suggested this food. I agreed to try it but in my mind I was rolling my eyes thinking “Ya, right”. They transitioned over to it very nicely. No change in their appetite. No vomiting (which was happening more often with the top best brand of food) Their bowel movements seemed better and less stinky. Before the food change the cats used to fight and hiss at each other, flick their tails like they were really irritated and one cat would turn and bite randomly while being petted. Now the flicking of the tail is a soft gentle sway, no more hissing and fighting and no more random bites. cat food for my kitties
By Genie on Feb 3, 2021
Nice to have Chewy offer the Canin calm food for urinary. Our vet has now moved her practice to MT so she is no longer in town. No one else has this cat food.

By Nicky on Feb 11, 2021
My cat eats it without a problem but it has done nothing to calm my her at all. Sad. Overpriced and requires a prescription but has done nothing.
