On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

My cat has a favorite food until I purchase a case of it, then he decides he doesn't like it anymore. The Vet has put my old boy on this renal support food and while he doesn't just gobble it up, he definitely picks at it until its pretty much gone. If he truly didn't like it, he would walk away and never look back, but this is enticing enough to keep him nibbling. And as always Chewy always gets our orders to us super fast and are so nice to deal with!

Yes it smells, that's b/c Royal Canin was smart enough to make it attractive to the ill cat who needs to eat it. It doesn't hang around in his bowl all that long, I use it as top dressing on other renal food so he'll eat more, which he is reluctant to do these days. The gravy is a big plus, especially with a cat who isn't drinking as much. Wish it came in a 5 oz size as this is $$$ food in 3 oz size.

The cat likes it, however I have to smash it up because the pieces are too big for her to manage. For me the smell is unpleasant enough that I won't feed it even though it is vet recommended. I'll try Hills brand renal support. For now we have gone back to Blue Wilderness chicken and salmon varieties as well as Ziwi lamb and mackerel.

I was warned that it’s difficult to get cats to eat special diet foods. I followed the instructions and introduced this food slowly along with my cat’s old food. He mostly licks up the gravy so I mush it up some so he has to eat more of the solid pieces. It’s a struggle, but he eats it.

14 year old 6# Yorkie-Pooh (yes, this mix is for cats, but she will only eat cat food) was put on the T & D formulas for her early stage renal issues. She loves it and we noticed an improvement in her "urgency" within 48 hours. Love chewy.com.

My cat has kidney disease and had virtually stopped eating. We had him on a kd food and tried several varieties, with no success. He was losing weight and clearly wasn’t feeling well. Finally I tried this Royal Canin food—and my cat is in love! He’s eating again, feeling better, playing. I’m thrilled with this food!

My Mulligan turned her nose up at this food for several days. I persisted in trying to sneak it in with other food and finally, after several days, she decided it wasn’t so bad. Now, she eats it without hesitation.

Both my cats love this food. I mash it up and add a little water to make a thin gravy and they gobble it up. Being 14 years old, they don't like the chunks. I will definitely buy again.

My 14 year old cat had been getting less and less intersted in his other priescription food and was losing weight. Luckily, when this arrived his appetite was revived and he loves it.
