How do I order veterinary diets?
- Search for the diet your veterinarian recommends and add it to your cart. You can purchase your veterinary diets along with any other items you need.
- At Checkout, you'll be asked for your pet's name and veterinary clinic information so we can confirm that the item is authorized by your veterinarian.
- Place your order and we'll take care of contacting your veterinarian. If you have a copy of your authorization, you can expedite the process by uploading a scan or photo of it to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
If your clinic needs more information from you or recommends a different diet, we'll let you know immediately.
I have a copy of the authorization from my veterinarian. Can I send it to you?
Yes. If you have a paper copy of your veterinarian's authorization, you can upload a scan or photo to the Prescriptions section in your account or your order confirmation. You can also email it to vetdiet@chewy.com.
Can I use a veterinarian's authorization if it was written by a veterinarian out of state? Yes. We accept valid authorizations from anywhere in the United States, Canada, and U.S. territories such as Puerto Rico.
Why do I need a veterinarian's authorization?
Veterinary diets are formulated with the precise ingredients and nutrients needed to address specific medical issues. Because these diets are formulated for medical issues, veterinary authorization is needed to advise you on the best way to give them to your pet and to monitor your pet's health while they are on the diet.
Can someone else (such as a caretaker or family member) place an order for my pet?
Yes, but we'll need them to contact us and provide the full name of the pet's owner after the order is placed. This is so the veterinary clinic can locate your pet's records when we contact them. Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com or call us 24/7 at 1-800-672-4399.
Do authorizations expire?
Yes. Your veterinarian will tell us when your authorization expires and how many refills you have before they'd like you to check back in with them.
Can I set up automatic refills? Yes. Sign up for Autoship at Checkout and select how often you need refills. We'll automatically ship your veterinary diets for as long as your authorization allows. If you run out of refills or your authorization expires, we'll automatically contact your veterinarian for a new authorization.
What if I have more questions? How can I reach the veterinary diets team at Chewy?
Email us at vetdiet@chewy.com, start a chat on Chewy.com, or call us anytime at 1-800-672-4399. We're here for you 24/7.

Cat with Renal Problems Enjoys
By Rach on Feb 22, 2021
My cat has chronic kidney failure and is still so young so when I found this out, he had to have a complete diet change. He throws up from eating anything with too much protien and my vet wasn’t very helpful in recommending anything other than the K/D food so I took it upon myself to google what treats he could eat and these and renal assitance treats came up so I bought them right away! My cat with renal failure is very picky and eats these okay, he prefers the other ones but these are lighter on the tummy, he does end up begging for them every now and then! As for working with his condition, I know they work well because he has not gotten sick since being on them, he does seem happier but I My cat has chronic kidney failure and is still so young so when I found this out, he had to have a complete diet change. My little Oreo loves these!
By Oreo on Jan 22, 2021
She's a picky little thing on a special diet because of her skin allergies. i'm so happy they make treats for pets with skin allergies!!! She loves these wafer thin treats! They're kind of wide but at least they are thin. SHe is a Persian with hardly any teeth And an underbite! She would probably eat the whole sack but I do not let her. Get a lot of these for the price as well if your cat likes these treats you will be so happy that you got them! I really think your kitty will love them you will be so happy you gave them to your kitty considering the diet that they are on has little to no choices! Thanks for making these treats royal canin

Happy to have treats again!
By Victoria on Jan 16, 2021
Our cat has been on a hydrolyzed diet for a year now. We had to cut out everything else but the hydrolyzed food. When I saw these treats, I was so happy to talk with my vet and get their permission to introduce them into his diet. He loves them and is so grateful to be able to have treats again. These are a little big and sometimes leads my cat to gag if he doesn’t chew them right, but I take that as his enthusiasm for the treats. he has had these for about a month now and no allergic flare ups. I also like that it has nutrients to support healthy skin and coat. Finally, the price is just wonderful for such a big bag, considering the average cat treats cost about $2 for a smaller bag. Good replacement for the Urinary SO treats. My cat still likes them. Whew!
By Katie on Feb 9, 2021
Couldn't find the Royal Canid Urinary SO treats anywhere and my cat LOVES them. The thought of no treats when he has such a limited diet is so sad. I was glad to find that the other hydrolyzed protein treats could be a good substitute. Definitely relieved that my cat likes them! I will still return to the original SO Urinary if they become available, but in the meantime these will do the trick!

Best treats
By Mell on Feb 16, 2021
Torquil is on a very specific diet, and he could not have any treats to express my love and to reward him for being good. His docs approved these for his diet, and he loves them! They do not upset his digestion system, and we have a much better relationship because of these.

Cats love them
By Tigermom on Feb 3, 2021
These are absolutely the best! My cats have not been able to have treats for YEARS now without throwing them up. They were over the moon excited for these and it's so fun watching them get all excited to have treats again!! This website is amazing also. Lightning fast and best prices I've been able to find.

Veterinary recommended treats
By Tram on Jan 8, 2021
One of our cats absolutely LOVES them. The other cat can't be bothered, but he has never enjoyed treats of any kind. Picky little fellow! We consider the treats to be a bonus for the cat that has had urinary tract problems in the past. Tram looks forward to having treats when we're eating dinner. He knows where the package is, and leads us directly to it, if we hesitate too long. LOL

Generous amount for price!
By GremmysMom on Dec 24, 2020
I got these treats to go along with a new hydrolyzed diet for my very picky little Maine Coon girl(who is a big treat freak). I can't say that she gets quite as excited about these as her normal favorites but she still eats them up and they don't mess with her VERY sensitive stomach. She is 10lbs, I typically give her 6 treats in the morning and/or 6 in the evening. You get a really big bag for $7 too(almost 8oz), I was pleasantly surprised by that after spending so much on new hydrolyzed wet & dry foods. Very picky kitty is happy, I am happy, definitely will repurchase these treats.

Provides a nice treat for special needs cat
By Mtrio on Feb 9, 2021
My female cat has Triad disease and sometimes she “looks disappointed” when I don't have special treats for her when I give some to my other cat. These make it possible for her to get in on the fun. And I don't feel guilty!
