  • Mr. Picky Pants Wouldn't Eat Pass Day 7

    By on

I had high hopes for this dry dog food but my dog had another idea. My Yorkie has a super-sensitive tummy and is a very picky eater. I thought he was enjoying the dry dog food because he would gobble the sprinkle (about a tablespoon worth) that was added to his rice & chicken for breakfast and dinner. Then on day 7 he refused to eat his breakfast and dinner until the dry dog food was removed from the rice & chicken mixture. I even tried putting a few pieces of the dry kibble on his mat but it just sat there until I threw it out. Unfortunately, this dry kibble didn't woo my fur-baby's taste buds.

After many frustrating "I'm sorry, we're out of that right now, we'll have to order it for you..we'll give you a call whenever it comes in" calls at the Vet, for my dog who can only eat a prescription dog food, I saw online that Chewy.com could ship it to my house in about two days! For the same price or a little cheaper...really?! Has to be worth the try, right? Sure enough, in two days that sweet Chewy.com box was sitting on my front porch! It is so nice knowing I don't have to wonder if I've got to time it out at the Vets for them to order so my "little girl" doesn't run out of food! With autoship I know it will always be right here, right when I need it! • My woofer loves it!

My pupper Mia (a chihuahua-rat terrier mix) suffered from pancreatitis one too many times. Frustrated that vets couldn't really help her (meds and changes of food repeatedly), I decided to boil chicken and rice in the meantime while searching for a great website that sells low fat gastro friendly dry foods. As many of you can imagine, Royal canin Gastro is very difficult to find online. I came across Chewy and was blown away. Now I can order Mia's food without having to worry over a vet visit. She no longer vomits blood and her stools are no longer bloody as well. She is perfectly healthy and this dog food is the only one that helps her. • Bonnie loves her new food!

    By on

Bonnie is our 12 year old Scottish Terrier who has Pancreatitis and Cushings Disease. She is on twice weekly Chemo drug very low dose for the Cushings. She was diagnosed last year and we thought we were going to lose her to the Pancreatitis. She was in IC at Vet for 3 days off food and water and on IV's and pain meds for her the Pancreatitis. Everything inside her body was enlarged. When I saw the X-rays I couldn't believe she was still alive. She was vomiting and that was what sent us to the Vet. Since that time we were feeding her a homemade food consisting of chicken breast, brown rice and veggies. We also supplement her with a multivitamin. She did really well on it for a long time, but we noticed recently that she had slowed down a lot. She would eat, but then go back to sleep and that was about it. Then she got into a box of dog bones and ate several before we realized and she started having symptoms of Pancreatitis again. We thought she would have to go back to the hospital again, but we decided to start her on the Royal Canin and see if this helped. I can not believe the difference in her. She is playful and follows me around the house all the time. I don't think what we were feeding had enough protein and she had no energy. With this food it's like having a new dog. She's showing no signs of Pancreatitis and that is awesome. I know this food costs a lot, but I found out that the reason it does is because it has to state exactly what's in it. If you notice most dog foods have Min and Max Fat, so that means it can have either or in between fat levels which is what makes Pancreatitis flare. If this food says its Fat is 6% then it has to be 6%. Well worth the money. Bonnie thinks so too and loves it! Thank you Chewy for carrying it and also Royal Canin for making an awesome product. … more

  • Miracle Food!

    By on

My dog has chronic pancreatitis. I was completely mortified when she kept getting sick and we had to keep rushing her to the vet. Finally, she was prescribed this and we were told to put her on a low fat, low cal (basically vegetarian) diet. My baby girl got better almost immediately! She does still have an occasional flare up. But they are rare and nowhere near as bad as they were before changing her diet. I would recommend this food for anyone with a dog that has a strict diet because of a sensitive tummy! Bailey loves it and I can relax!

  • Happy dog, happy family

Teddy our 8 year old Shih Tzu needed to be on a low fat diet due to a internal stomach growth along with daily steroids to keep inflammation down. The vet hospital recomended/insisted on Royal Canin vet diet Gastrointestinal low fat dog food. To reduce any expansion in the stomach we add water to the container of dry food which expands the food and softens it. Teddy loves the taste which is another bonus!

  • Huge improvement for my dog!

    By on

For years my Pit Bull mix had digestive issues. He had very runny stool and would throw up if he didn't get fed at very specific times. He was throwing up at least 3-6 times a week. Finally we tried this food and not only does my super picky eater love it, he hasn't thrown up once in the 3 months he has been eating it! This food pretty much worked miracles for him and I'm so happy he is better!

  • Not for picky eaters

    By on

My dog needed this because she was dealing with a pancreatitis flare up again. She loved it in the beginning because she hadn't eaten for days so when she finally started feeling better, she greedily ate it. After a while though she wouldn't touch it, even when I'd mix in the corresponding canned food. Very frustrating to have a dog that needs this kind of food, yet won't touch it. I'll keep what I've got for the next attack. Sigh!

  • unbeatable product and service!

Hearing a diagnosis of pancreatitis for your extremely sick dog is frightening, especially when you're leaving to take her home after hours of tests and emergency measures, and the vet advises you she might need a 24-7 dog facility during the course of the night. Thankfully, she made back to the vet the next morning, a little wobbly, but on the mend. After considerable research and a check with the vet, I decided to go with Royal Canin Gastrointestinal, She loves it, is thriving on it, and is back to play and mischief! This product required a vet's prescription, and the people at Chewy helped to get that through ASAP. Also, their delivery came right on time.
