Chickens aren't convinced

I like the idea of whole grain feed - less processing, etc. Unfortunately, the chickens aren't convinced. They pick around the wheat berries so there's a lot of leftovers that the wild birds are cleaning up. Not what I had in mind! My plan for the rest of this big ol' bag is to first try fermenting, then try sprouting if fermenting doesn't get them to eat it all.

Best Value Scratch

I've been using this scratch for over a year now, and it has become my favorite brand. In winter I mix in some black sunflower seeds, and year round I like to add in black fly larvae or mealworms for added calcium and protein, but it is already a really nice mix of seeds and grains.

arrived with maggots

I was so excited to receive this item after so many good reviews. It arrived quickly but I noticed some bugs on the outside of the box and bag. Initially I didn’t think anything about it and I took it outside to pour into the girls storage bin. As soon as I opened the bag THOUSANDS of live maggots were crawling out. I dumped the bag to take a photo. The picture doesn’t do it justice, there’s about a dozen maggots per tablespoon of grain. Absolutely disgusting! I’m sure my girls wouldn’t mind the bugs but I certainly don’t want to store this in my shed.

Filled with bugs!

I was so disappointed. After purchasing this expensive scratch based on other reviews, when is opened up the bag it was filled with those little moth bugs that have spider-webby cocoons. The scratch was clumped together. I had to throw out the whole bag!

awesome organic scratch feed

i have 11 chickens and have been buying all types of feed to see what i really like for them. i prefer organic/non GMO style of feed for my girls. THIS IS AWESOME. i put it both in the feeders and spread it on the ground during their free range time. The extra benefit is the seeds left over double feed my girls. They have taken root and sprouted this beautiful lush green treat. this is my GO TO feed that i mix with pellet and corn . I feel so good giving them this natural feed and knowing it doesn't go to waste. I will be ordering this as long as i have chickens to feed. Thank you chewy for offering this great Feed!

Works every time!

I have been using Scratch and Peck Feeds scratch grains for years. It's the ONLY way I can reliably get my birds to come when I call them to put them back in the run. Must have for chicken obedience!

Excellent Treat For All Seasons

Scratch and Peck Feeds is the only feed my chickens will eat. I use Scratch n' Corn during the winter months to help keep my flock moving.
