What is the measurement of the actual scratching surface? I’m looking for six inches. All the newer ones are smaller. Thank you.

The scratching surface is about 30 inches in height. Almost the entire surface area is devoted to scratching surface.

Where are the SmartCat scratching posts made?

Seems to me this scratcher does very little "shedding". Normally sisal and carpet scratchers leave debris everywhere. Can anyone advise if this sheds much? Thanks!

From customer reviews and pictures it does not seem to shed all over but it turns to fur on the scratching post itself.

Sturdy and Quickly Accepted by Kitty

I was reluctant to purchase this in case my cat refused to use it. It also cost a bit more than I was comfortable with. I'm happy to see it's a fantastic scratching post! It's very well made, higher quality than I had hoped for, and my cat began using it within a few hours. I'm delighted with this purchase and so grateful to save scratching damage on my furniture. Well worth the price. Highly recommended.

Sturdiness and size

Sometimes I struggle to buy stuff for my siamese cat because of his size and length, he's usually not able really stretch himself out to be able to use a scratcher

Sometimes I struggle to buy stuff for my siamese cat because of his size and length, he's usually not able really stretch himself out to be able to use a scratcher without tipping it over because he's over 14 pounds, but this one is the exception. He loves that he can stretch himself out, nearly reaching the top without fear of having to run for it after tipping it over. I've also found that he prefers sisal over scratchers that have rope wrapped around it, and it lasts longer.

I bought this for a stray that has chosen to adopt us but mostly spends it's time outside. It's placed on a covered outside porch. Unfortunately, the cat still chooses the foot poof to scratch instead of the post, though I am working on teaching him to use the post. Crossing my fingers. Overall very happy with the item.

This is the second one I’ve bought, the first lasted about 8 years w daily use of one particular cat who was clawing at it as I removed it from the box , did have a second cat for about 4 years who used it too. Sturdy and long lasting I felt it was worth the money to buy a second one when the sisal was finally near shredded in a couple spots and I didn’t want him to catch a claw in it.
