I've purchased this brand numerous times before, but this time the quality isn't great. First off, I noticed the hay isn't as vibrant green as the previous bags I've bought in the past. My bunny too, (who usually devours this hay the minute I put his bowl down), isn't pleased with it either. Very disappointed, because ironically I bought two 3lb bags this time around, and this is the time the hay quality sucks.
While the type of hay received at any given time can be either very straw-like, stick-like or grass-like, this wasn't any of that. This is more moss-like. I thought my bunnies might be ok with it, but it's taking more time. I do mix it with my other hay that is more straw-like, and that helps. Side note about the packaging: I always remove the hay from the box to store in a closet. The plastic back used to hold this 40 lbs of hays is weak and thin and ripped every time I tried to move it. Consequently, it caused a huge mess.
My guinea pig got very emaciated on this, his poops got tiny, he acted lik he was starving, and his vet said this isn't timothy hay...it looks like orchard grass. There is zero fiber so his GI tract stopped moving, it's like a stirngy grass with no roughage that they need...and there are zero hay heads for fiber like you normally find in a 1st or 2nd cut timothy hay. In two large boxes zero timothy hay heads or stalks that are firm at all. Please do not feed this to your pigs unless you want to end up at the vet. Chewy should discontinue this.
i've had my rabbit for over two years and have been using this hay for a majority of the time. i find that the quality is much better and my rabbit absolutely loves it. not only that, but i love opening a fresh box to see the fresh coloration of the hay itself. it really makes me feel like i'm feeding my rabbit something that will help to keep her healthy. :)
I've been a loyal customer of this hay brand, and every time I introduce a new box, my bunnies show immense enthusiasm. The alluring blend of Chamomile and Marigold within their organic timothy hay truly sets it apart, making it exceptional in every way.
I have have 15 Guinea pigs and it’s so refreshing to have found good quality hay that comes in such a huge bundle so that I don’t have to buy it every week. This hay is amazing and I would definitely recommend.
Excellent hay! I have been buying their hay for years, my bunnies love a new box, and smelling the Chamomile and Marigold mix with organic timothy hay. It’s far better than Oxbow or Kay Tee.
Fully recommend Sweet Meadow Farms timothy hay. I have 4 guinea pigs who eat 90% hay, and use it as bedding for my 8 mice and 5 rats. I've ordered from all the major companies and their stuff frequently has quality issues; too dry and crumbly, old and yellowed, no scent, mostly stem. Never had an issue with Sweet Meadow. Whether I order in bulk online or pick up a smaller bag in local stores, it's always soft, green, and fragrant. Plus the boxes frequently weigh more than advertised, not less like other companies. Can't recommend them enough.
This hay is cheaper and softer than the Oxbow bulk hay and my guinea pigs like it so much better! I’ve only had to buy 3 boxes in 8 months for 5 guinea pigs!
This hay was perfect quality. Our rabbit loved it. The bag did open in the box when it was shipped but other then that we had no problems with it.
