This compounded eye drop (Tacrolimus) prescribed for keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) did not work. My dog has been using a compounded Tacrolimus drop acquired from the local veterinary ophthalmologist’s office for almost two years and has had no problems. The Chewy drops irritated my dog’s eyes a bit when I administered them. After ten days on the Chewy product, he was painful, blinking, had discharge from both eyes. We returned to the eye doctor. He had ulcers in both eyes. The veterinarian said that some of the compounded drops use an oil base and do not work as well even though they have the same active ingredient. I respectfully recommend that Chewy look for an alternative compounding pharmacy for the Tacrolimus products. Plus I had to buy your product and then pay for a vet visit, two antibiotics, and a replacement Tacrolimus.

Change in manufacturer/no notice by Chewy

I called in because the drops were oily and the label wouldn’t stay on the bottle. As it turns out, the med was different. I did not receive notification in advance or that anyone had problems. There should have been a notification when the med was sent out. My basenji eventually wouldn’t open her eyes and I had to call to try and understand what happened with the change. I will not risk her eyes by utilizing an Rx from Chewy. I will only get it from her eye doctor. I am taking her in for an additional appointment with the specialist. Very disappointed and irritated with Chewy.

I had been administering the same Rx strength eye drops from the bottle I purchased from my vet clinic at the time of her initial appointment and diagnosis. Due to the high cost of purchasing from my vet clinic, I decided to order from Chewy pharmacy. I received a compounded eye drop medication. The first and only time I administered the drop the dog reacted in the following ways: her eyes turned red, watered excessively, were sensitive to light , and she was pawing at them and rubbing them on the sofa. Thankfully this resolved after a while. I will not be using this product.

I accidentally didn’t update my address to my new address so the meds I purchased were sent to my old address and when I received the notification to my email of where they were mailed once they arrived I called Chewy and told them what happened and they updated my address online and resent the same prescription meds to my current address at no additonal cost! They were so kind and understanding and got it to me so quickly! I highly recommend Chewy!

We have increased difficulty getting the more viscous solution drops to come out of the bottle than we did with the original. Coupled with that, our dog is not very patient with holding still while we’re squeezing the bottle just so, trying to get one drop out. The ophthalmic solution itself is a minor miracle at our house. The thick, crusty buildup in the corner of Cooper’s eye is no longer there, so he’s more comfortable. It’s wonderful! He’s happy. We’re happy. Our bank account is not so thrilled, but this stuff actually works extremely well, and that’s the main objective!!

Severe dry eye in our little Bichon-poo senior and he was miserable for months, we tried many products and the vet discouraged any further guidance. One year in with a new vet who agreed to an ophthalmologist who recommended this combined with two of the things we already had been using and within the first day there was no more thick eye goop, no more miserable expression and he was back to being himself! We are so grateful!!!

Chewy switched to this supplier and compound for the Tacrolimus. Granted this is not as thick as the previous my dog's eyes have NOT stopped watering since using it. We have stopped the product and are going to her opthomologist to see what better suppliers and product they can recommend. This was not a good upgrade for Chewy.

I have used the drops only three or four times and each time my pup shuts his eyes and one eye he will not open for hours and the other one he will open after about an hour. I have contacted the vet and will stop using them until he is back in the office early next week. A trainer looked at my pup this afternoon and she said he appears to be in a bit of pain from this so maybe it’s just too strong for him. I will let you know.
