My nitrate test shows brown, and has ever since the first test strip I've used. Brown isn't a color on the color chart. What does this mean for nitrates?

How do you know if test strips are good or not is alkalinity supposed to be yellow before test

These test strips indication spots will have a faded color. Once the strip is dipped in water, the color will bold showing the water levels.
What range of PH does it test? Below 6.0?
