The key to starting a successful bird feeding program is the right food. Just like people, birds have different food preferences. Also, make sure your feeders are filled on a regular basis. If you keep food available, your birds will know to keep coming back to your feeder for more.
Hopper Feeders and Tube Feeders (with large holes) are better for sunflower seed, safflower seed, peanuts and blended seeds.
Finch tube feeders (with small holes) are better for Nyjer seed and finch food.
Platform feeders will accommodate ground feeding birds (such as cardinals, juncos, doves, jays, and sparrows) and other wildlife.

Wagner's Wild Bird Food
Wagner's has a simple philosophy when it comes to feeding wild birds—feed them the seeds they like. And they make it easy for bird watchers to keep their feeders busy with a wide variety of premium, specialty, deluxe and value blends. Wagner's seed mixes are made with only the cleanest, freshest ingredients to fill your yard with the happy chirps of satisfied songbirds.

Always The First
As an industry trailblazer, Wagner's has had many firsts. They were the first company over 80 years ago to sell a bird seed for year-round feeding. Before that, bird feeding was just a winter activity to give wild birds the energy they needed to survive the winter. They've also been the first to market black oil sunflower seed, regional blends, and deluxe and premium bird foods.

Brings all the birds to the Yard
By Tracey on Dec 11, 2020
Chickadees, Bluejays and Cardinals all love this blend. Have even seen woodpeckers at the feeder. The squirrels also like it, but mine are not that brave so I can scare them away easily, as can bluejays. It is a little messy, but better than most and seems to disappear from the ground by the end of the season.

Disappointed
By Squirrels on Jan 22, 2021
I was very disappointed with this premium Squirrel food, they pick out the nuts and leave the rest and I have corn kernels all over my yard.

Feeding Frenzy
By Joanie on Nov 9, 2020
Both the squirrels and the bluejays love this food. As soon as I put it out they come to feast.

The perfect mix for every creature who visits my side yard - birds, ducks, doves, bunnies, and squirrels. They all seem to find something they enjoy. Will definitely order again.

It does its job; keeping the squirrels away from the bird food!

Last 3 bags were Dusty and Buggy Looking
By Heidi100 on Oct 5, 2019
I've been buying Wagner's birdseed for several years and normally the birds love it. But the last few bags have been a disappointment with dusty seeds and look like they have bugs living in the bag. Old seed? Probably. The bags should probably be rotated on the shelves so no OLD, dusty bags are being sold.

Happy birds and critters!
By Lizzie on Feb 16, 2019
I'm a fan of Wagner's bird and wildlife foods anyway, but I bought this blend in particular because we now have a red squirrel coming to the food trays. They aren't very common where we live, so this is a real treat, and I wanted something that would keep him coming back. This does the trick. He LOVES it. So do our friends the doves and jays. If I spread it in the yard, we also get wild turkeys and crows. I'll be adding a songbird blend for the smaller birds, but this is great if you want to attract larger birds.

Great Variety of Critter food
By MollyMish on Jul 31, 2018
This would be my "go-to" source for backyard wildlife except for the amount of sunflower seed -- it's actually plentiful and this causes too much of a mess on our patio so we're going to find feed that creates less "debris." But otherwise we liked the quality and variety.

Squirrels are NUTS about this!
By VitosMom on May 31, 2018 Top 1000 Contributor
I recently purchased a few squirrel feeders to help keep them off of my bird feeders. This mix has been perfect! The squirrels eat every bit of it, and what they throw on the ground the blue jays enjoy. I've had to start cutting back on how much food I put out, or they will start eating me out of house and home! Definitely putting this on my autoship list.
