Weruva Wx Phos Focused

This low-phosphorous food is all natural and free of ingredients like powdered cellulose, fillers and carbohydrates that can superficially lower phosphorous percentages. Weruva Wx contains up to 50% less phosphorus than AAFCO’s minimum levels.

Weruva’s Lowest Phosphorous Foods

The Weruva Wx formula has low levels of phosphorous without sacrificing protein content or quality. It offers highly bioavailable proteins for optimal digestion and good amino acid absorption to help maintain muscle mass.

Why Seek Lower Phosphorous Formulas?

As kidney health declines, the kidneys may no longer filter blood efficiently, and phosphorous may enter the blood stream. This can make cats feel unwell, become lethargic or experience appetite loss. The situation can become a vicious cycle as excess phosphorous in the blood further impairs the kidneys. A diet with lower phosphorous, although it will not cure kidney issues, can help minimize these other ailments.

No Protein Sacrifice

Cats are obligate carnivores who need meat to thrive. Meat is rich in high-quality protein, which helps maintain healthy muscle mass. This recipe has a phosphorus content of 0.078% on an as-fed basis or 0.42% on a dry matter basis.
Your description of this food states "This food is not complete and balanced and should not be fed as the only meal to cats on an everyday basis", what's missing ? Thank you

The WX flavors are designed formulas with such low phosphorus levels that they are not considered complete and balanced (per AAFCO standards). Essentially, the phosphorus is too low and this includes formulas that are more than 20% less than AAFCO minimum standards for phosphorus. All other nutrients in this recipe meet the AAFCO requirements.

This recipe contains approximately 0.01% Magnesium on an as-fed basis, or 0.06% Magnesium on a dry matter basis. Weruva strives for a 1:1 ratio of phosphorous to calcium in all of their formulas.

He likes it! He likes it!

My extremely picky kitty is willing to eat this food repeatedly! I've ordered it multiple times now, and he keeps wanting to eat it - unheard of for this cat. This is saying a lot for any food but particularly for a kidney diet food. My cat is less enthusiastic about the puree versions of the Wx Phos Focused line, but will eat them sometimes. Hope the chicken in gravy comes back in stock soon!

skinny senior kitty loves this

This (and the low phos shreds with chicken and tilapia) is the only food my super skinny, toothless, 16 year old cat will eat. He’s not even on a low phos diet— I ordered this on a whim and he loved it. I supplement with a vitamin. I’ve tried countless brand and flavors, and this is the only food he will eat He frequently asks for more after eating the entire bowl. Please never stop making this. And please don’t change the recipe/formula lol.

They just didn't like this food.

My two cats have been eating Weruva canned catfood for years and love it. I Thought I'd give them a different flavor for a change. Neither one of my boys will eat it. I'll probably give it to the local cat shelter. Sometimes cats just don't like change.

Cats didn't like it

The idea is fantastic with the low phosphorus. I got it for my 17-year-old cat for kidney support. Unfortunately he wouldn't eat it. I tried to give it to my other two cats and they wouldn't eat it either.

Finally foods put out with low phosphorus and no prescription. The scam Hills and other companies are doing is disgusting. Nothing in there foods is prescription!

Kitty loves this food

My kitty has been having a hard time adjusting to the prescription kidney food and has lost quite a bit of weight over the past year due to refusing to eat it and craving for any type of treat he can get his paws on :( . So we tried WX Phos Focused with chicken (gravy and pate varieties) due to the great reviews and he loves it, we have high hopes he will put some weight back on now.

Excellent Quality

When foods provided for special needs are consumed just as quickly as those that aren't, it's incredibly helpful. For any cat owner told to lessen the phosphorus content due to kidney concerns, Weruva Wx is both excellent quality and choice.

She likes it -- hey Mikey!

My 12 year old kitty is super picky so I usually have to add toppers to her canned food (e.g., freeze dried chicken treats or freeze dried raw). Although she isn't a fan of shredded meat, she eats this food and won't leave very much behind (which she does with the majority of the "good" foods, although will lap up the not so good foods). I try to keep her phosphorus in the mid to lower range, esp since her cbc lab work was so good a few months ago. Since this is a low phos food, I can mix in her higher phos (freeze dried raw) with this as a topper and which would bring her meals up to a .60-75% phos range which is terrific. I'll give the pate version a try but definitely will be reordering the WX line. A big THANK YOU to Weruva for developing this canned food, especially compromised kidney / CRF cats who refuse to eat the CRF kidney, "prescription" food, as well as Chewy, for caring the WX line. :))
