About Weruva Wx

Weruva Wx Phos Focused

This low-phosphorous food is all natural and free of ingredients like powdered cellulose, fillers and carbohydrates that can superficially lower phosphorous percentages. Weruva Wx contains up to 50% less phosphorus than AAFCO’s minimum levels.

Weruva’s Lowest Phosphorous Foods

The Weruva Wx formula has low levels of phosphorous without sacrificing protein content or quality. It offers highly bioavailable proteins for optimal digestion and good amino acid absorption to help maintain muscle mass.

Why Seek Lower Phosphorous Formulas?

As kidney health declines, the kidneys may no longer filter blood efficiently, and phosphorous may enter the blood stream. This can make cats feel unwell, become lethargic or experience appetite loss. The situation can become a vicious cycle as excess phosphorous in the blood further impairs the kidneys. A diet with lower phosphorous, although it will not cure kidney issues, can help minimize these other ailments.

No Protein Sacrifice

Cats are obligate carnivores who need meat to thrive. Meat is rich in high-quality protein, which helps maintain healthy muscle mass. Although cats with kidney issues may benefit from diets with lower levels of phosphorous, they still need adequate levels of protein. Because maintaining muscle mass is crucial for cats with kidney issues, Weruva makes sure their Wx formula includes plenty of protein.

About Weruva

Weruva is a family company, wholly owned and operated by pet parents David and Stacie Forman. They originally developed Weruva, a luxurious natural pet food, for their three rescued cats: Webster, Rudi and Vanessa. After searching for the best cat food under the sun to feed them, they realized the best wasn’t good enough and developed these fantastic recipes using quality sourced ingredients.

Cats love it

My cats really seem to like this food. Some prefer the pate over shreds, and vice versa, so it's nice to have a variety pack. They're seniors now and one with elevated kidney values, so I'm thankful for a non-prescription kidney food option for them. My only complaints would be, I wish there were other meat options like turkey. And the cans with the shreds seem to have way more broth than meat. I also wish they would make these in 5.5oz cans, but these concerns are not a deal breaker.

Picky cat with Kidney disease

So my very very picky 18 year old cat loves this food! I was skeptical- so I ordered 12 cans. She has put her nose up at all the prescription kidney care foods. So I decided she is too small (5lbs) and to old (18) to not have the kidney care food- I tried this brand. She was so picky that she would only eat pate. I accidentally got the shreds. I put it in her bowl and oh my goodness! She gobbled it up completely. She won’t eat any other food now! Very happy- she eats two cans a day!! Just full disclosure - she is on thyroid medicine and missing 6 teeth. I added a picture of my girl. Love her! Had her since she was a kitten. She has never been bigger than 7 lbs.

Our picky eater loves these

We’ve been having trouble getting our 16yo kitty to eat his prescription kidney support food which has even higher dry weight phosphorous content than this food. I was worried he would lose too much weight and gave this and the chicken variety pack a try. While he turns his nose up at all his other foods, he scarfs this down to the point we have to feed him in two separate feedings per meal to slow him down! I’m curious to see how his kidney panel comes up again in a few months, but will be only ordering these for now!

Total disaster

Not only would my kitty with kidney problems not touch this food, but my other cat wouldn't eat it either. Both my boys are old now and it's hard to get them to change. I even tried mixing this with half of the regular food and only ended up feeding it all to the garbage disposal.

Cat won't eat

Hoping to fine a wet food for my senior cat with UTI. Most UTI foods have unhealthy ingredients and wanted to find a healthy food. Thought one of these flavors were a winner. Unfortunately he won't eat any of them.

My senior kitty gained weight on this

My 14 (approx.) year-old cat was diagnosed with kidney disease last year. She was 6lbs, super boney, frail, and lacking energy. She has a super sensitive stomach, and I tried a couple other renal-friendly foods that made her stomach upset. This kept her belly happy and she's gained weight and feels super healthy :') she has more energy and her fur is softer. I'm just happy she she seems to feel better.

Great for Phos, cats said no thanks

I wanted to give my newly diagnosed kidney disease kitty an option of low phosphorous food, and this one hit all the marks. Except for taste. Even when covered with treats, my cat said no thanks. I tried all different kinds of toppings and he barely licked the toppings off.

Only likes the one with Chicken

My kitty has been having a hard time adjusting to the prescription kidney food and has lost quite a bit of weight over the past year. So we tried WX Phos Focused with chicken due to the great reviews and he loved it. We then decided to get this variety pack with fish in it as he loves salmon and tuna, but when we tried the phos focused fish ones (which all have tilapia in it) he refused to eat it even the one with tuna, seems that other people have a similar experience. We highly recommend the Chicken only varieties though.

A big hit with all my cats

I have a cat with chronic kidney disease. He will not eat any of the prescription foods, so I've been looking for low phosphorous non-prescription foods that he and my other two cats will eat. They all love the Weruva Wx Phos Focused foods. They eat every bite and lick their plates. This product gets a big five stars from me.
