Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

Once the dog has medicine on it, and been on the same for months, can a flea jump on the animal and then jump off in the house? Can the flea then reproduce?
Answer by ChewyOct 09, 2017
This products kills fleas on contact so there is little to no chance of it reproducing.

My puppy gets a full grooming (including a bath and haircut) every 4 weeks. How many her grooming affect her advantage II application?
Answer by ChewyAug 11, 2017
Once fully dry (after 24-48 hours) most shampoo's and grooming supplies will not affect the application.

does this product have a citrusy smell??
Answer by ChewySep 18, 2019
This product does not have any added scent.

is this product water proof ?
Answer by ChewyJun 01, 2021
It is recommended bathing your dog before applying Advantage II. Just make sure your dog is thoroughly towel-dried before application. If you choose to bathe your dog in between treatments, we recommend use of a general grooming shampoo for pets. Keep in mind that more frequent bathing may keep the product from working the full 30 days. Your dog is free to take a dip after the treatment has been on for 24 hours. However, more frequent swimming may keep the product from working the full 30 days.

BRING ON THE FLEAS

Purchased four applications for each of my four dachshunds average age 11. Weights average 18 lbs. (Please note that they have been free of fleas for over 8 years as we do not take them to "doggie parks" etc. In my opinion they picked up the fleas when I took them recently to be "groomed" as a special treat for them. Oh well.) 1. They now have more fleas than before the treatment. 2. They have been unusually lethargic since the treatment. 3. ALL protocols were followed according to the insert. THIS IS NOT CHEWY'S FAULT. I LOVE CHEWY! I do NOT recommend this product.

Wrong product, unable to return

I thought this was also for ticks and now I'm stuck with this expensive product and have to order another expensive product that has flea and tick prevention. I tried to find a way to return it but was unable to find any information. I'm very happy with Chewy.com for the most part, but this purchase, even though it was my error, was very disappointing since I'm not able to return it.

Flea Prevention

Since I am with a rescue and just got another new rescue for my self, we have always used this brand. The dogs have never had any reactions using this medication.

A Week At Best

At first this seemed like it was working. Within several days I was finding fleas that looked like they were dying (perhaps notably I haven't actually found any dead fleas). This seemed to have only lasted a week at most. 2 weeks in the flea problem seemingly came back with a fierceness, finding 3-6 fleas at any given moment with no effort. My poor dog is constantly biting and itching. We're only one dose in, not even sure if it's worth trying again with this medicine for the second dose. Money feels wasted.

Best Flea Meds Ever

No more fleas and my dog is very happy. I don't usually like flea meds because of all the negative publicity but this product is great and did not harm my little dog who is now talking to me again. She hates itching!!!
