My longhaired Dachshund mix was a rescue, and had been getting whatever was the cheapest food they could get before I got her. Within a month or so of me getting her, she went from a thin coat of fur to SUPER FLOOF! She has over all great health, and while we've tried switching food a couple times over the 9 ish years I've had her, we always end up back with Canidae after some bad experiences with others! She does seem to have a bit of a sensitive stomach, except on canidae. We can switch between canidae pure recipes with no trouble, and she likes them all!

Our dogs suffer from severe allergies. All the other foods we’ve tried were failures. Both had hives and hotspots. Our young pup was losing a lot of hair. The reviews claimed this food could cause loose stool, which has been occurring a little bit. We will take that issue over a balding pup any day! Both of our dogs coats look amazing and they both have great energy levels. We use the salmon and barley flavor because both are allergic to chicken and one is allergic to beef and peas. I recommend giving a shot if your dog has the same symptoms

My Sheltie has been happily eating various Canidae Pure recipes for years. He has a remarkably stable gut. I transitioned him to the Wild-caught Salmon Barley recipe from Lamb and Sweet Potato. He vomited and had diarrhea for days after eating the new recipe for a couple of days. I took him off the kibble and cooked him a very plain mix of ground beef, rice, and squash. His gut got better. I really doubted it was the kibble, so I tried reintroducing it and he had the same problem again. Took him off and his gut returned to normal after a time. I think this lot had an odor that other Canidae hasn't had. I won't feed him any more and am not sure what it is about this kibble.

Allergic to it

They ate it without a problem, just like everything I give to them, but 2 of our dogs have allergies. I avoid any food with chicken, but I guess Salmon is a problem

They ate it without a problem, just like everything I give to them, but 2 of our dogs have allergies. I avoid any food with chicken, but I guess Salmon is a problem too - I went back to Canidae's Bison kibble and the one dog with no allergies gets the salmon until it is gone!

Pups love it!

Our Westies have very sensitive stomachs and we have to be very careful about what they eat. Our last dog food manufacturer changed the ingredients and the pups had a lot of GI distress (including gas that could peal the paint off the wall). They love this food and so far haven’t experienced any stomach issues.

Wyatt loves this food. It’s still limited ingredients, but has healthy grains which is what he needs since being diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. I live that the salmon is wild caught and not farm raised.

My dog has an allergy to chicken, so no chicken dog food. I switched to one with beef and vegetables, she loved it but the constant scratching and licking were getting worse. I decide to try Pure Farm to Bowl wild salmon and barley. My dog loves it and her scratching has almost completely stopped.

This company is constantly changing their kibble formulas :( This last change (Salmon & Barley) caused an allergic reaction! My dog had to be on Benadryl for multiple days... The white of his eyes got super red. He was squinting and extremely itchy. Last time they changed their Chicken & Rice recipe by adding dried yeast, which my dog can't have. Nothing like trying to switch to a new food with little kibble left. So I am moving on to Fromm Whitefish & Potato recipe. Fingers crossed!

Our Scottish Terrier Seamus started breaking out in hives and hot spots and we traced it back to changes that Nutro Ultra made to its formula. It is very hard to find a quality dry dog food these days that doesn’t contain legumes (peas, chickpeas and lentils), chia or flaxseed (all of which are allergy triggers for our Seamus) but does contain healthy grains (as recommended by our vet) and thank goodness we found Canidae Pure! He loves it and so do we. We are feeding the salmon and barley formula. No strange smells. Made the switchover immediately with no stomach troubles or diarrhea. Hives, hot spots and itching cleared up immediately. So glad we found it.

I have been feeding this to my dog for over a year without any problems, I would have recommended it to anyone until now. My dog has had a severe reaction to this food. Everything from hives, itching, hair loss, and even an ear infection. Since switching from this brand to another, the itching has subsided. Now we wait for the hair to grow back.
