Can you buy replacement scratch paper?

Answer by ChewyNov 18, 2025
Replacement scratch paper can be purchased through the manufacturer, though a new board may be needed from wear and tear.

How do you get the scratch pad to do the dog’s rear pads?

Answer by ChewyJan 04, 2026
The product is designed to address the front claws; reducing or in some cases eliminating the need for restrictive grooming. De' Vora has found that when the front nails are properly maintained the back nail ware naturally. Similarly to how animals maintain their nails in the wild.

Absolute Game Changer!

Our pup hates few things in life, but having her nails trimmed is a big one. The only successful trims we've had in the past have been under sedation at the vet. I have tried so many files, trimmers and expensive gadgets, but the second her paw is touched she panics. I figured I'd give this a try as a last ditch effort, and I am so glad I did. She's used to treat puzzles so she didn't even question this. She did figure out that she can pull the ribbon with her teeth to open it, (and the small clasps to close it are fairly weak and broke off first time) so I have to hold it down and open it myself to reward good scratches, but it's a small price to pay for such great results. We pivot the placement to get her to switch paws and the biggest thing I recommend is watching how they scratch, as the first time she did it she gave herself a dagger of a claw from scratching sideways too long. Once we figured it out it's been so easy. We've used it three times now for just a few minutes at a time but it's keeping her nails at a great, manageable length and every time she thinks it's just another puzzle game. I couldn't be happier with this purchase! The additional emory board replacements are super handy as well and I love knowing this will last longer than a few uses!

I was skeptical but also desperate because my dog is absolutely impossible when it comes to nail trims. I had to show her how it works &play with her with it for awhile until she got the hang of it. I initially gave her a treat for every scratch then i showed her where the treats are stored and let her get a few, then I locked it & let her go to town occasionally unlocking & letting her get some. It is actually now put up so she does not go too short on them. I just have to worry about the back paws now. My girl's nails were embarrassingly long bc she's just so bad for trims & now she looks great! She did initially try to just chew the whole box up so keep an eye on them at all times. I haven't checked yet but am hopeful they sell replacement scratch paper. I would definitely recommend this product if you have a beast who refuses trims.

She's dug all around the toy but only very little on the toy. Once she gets it slightly ajar, she uses her mouth. It's great fun to chew though. I say close because she started to get it but then it opens and it's done. It needs many little drawers with slides that go out in different directions or spin or something. Possibly some kind of ridged slide out so it needs the strength of digging but can open slightly to give her hope. She also dug within the pocket. And she rolled on it. Honestly, I got this because she likes the motion of digging, and a big flat board works for that.

Dude HATED having his nails trimmed. Never gonna do it again.

Took him about 30 seconds to figure out that he was supposed to dig on it. I have a great video but I can only add a photo on here. Actually can’t add the photo

Took him about 30 seconds to figure out that he was supposed to dig on it. I have a great video but I can only add a photo on here. Actually can’t add the photo bc it’s too large. Whatever it’s a great product and he’s crazy about his nails and crazy about getting in the car and this worked very well for us. Probs throwing our clippers away.

Great Alternative For Nail Trims

My five month old Dalmatian has reached the “velociraptor” stage of puppyhood, and suddenly, will not tolerate having her nails trimmed or filed. This is a fun enrichment activity for her that just happens to file her nails down in the process. Simple to use, just fill with some favorite extra stinky training treats, and pup does all of the work by herself!!

Seemed like a great way to file nails

The concept is very good, and probably works on most dog. My Sammy can do one swipe with his paw and easily open the drawer. It usually flies across the room. It

Such a logically simple design

How could it not work? Well, because they’re cats. Feral rescues who won’t let me touch their paws but love to scratch the lovely pine frame of my Swedish loom
