I've been using straw in my coop for over a decade. I tried shavings in the past and switched right back to the straw. I found the shavings too dusty and messy. However, after being asked to try the hemp bedding by Eaton, I reluctantly raked out all the straw from my coop and replaced it with shavings. That was about a month ago and I'm sold on the hemp! It's wonderful. NO dust, my chickens and ducks seem to love it, and it doesn't require the daily turning with a rake like the straw. Plus there's literally NO odor in my coop. Even after a month. I'm very impressed with the hemp bedding and plan to continue to use it all summer.

My rabbit used to chew up my electric cables, and house plants. I'm not superstitious but since switching to hemp bedding he doesn't, so take of that what you will. Also the cage smells less, compared to wood chips, so that is nice too. All good things.
My Chicks Love it!

Wow- I was skeptical at first to move away from pine shavings, but I am so glad that I made the switch! Pretty close to zero dust, and stays much drier than any other bedding I have used in the past. Hemp for the win!

So far so good. Our Hens do not like it in their nesting boxes.
