What are the percents of sodium and phosphorous on a dry matter basis?

Answer by ChewyMay 28, 2024
This recipe contains 0.85% phosphorus and sodium 0.85% all on a dry matter basis.

Why is the fish hydrolyzed for sensitivity but there's still herring oil?

Answer by ChewyMar 26, 2024
The oil used in Farmina formulas does not contain protein. This means it will not trigger an allergy to the pet. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian to ensure this food is suitable for your pet.

What kind of fish is the hydrolyzed fish in the ingredient list?

Answer by ChewyApr 30, 2025
This recipe uses a blend of whitefish.

Does Farmina test the fish used for mercury/heavy metals?

Answer by ChewyNov 04, 2025
The mercury content in our products is well below the legally acceptable limit of 0.3 milligrams per kilogram. The ingredients in this product are periodically tested for mercury rather than the final products, and the results consistently show levels between one-quarter and one-half of the maximum tolerance. When these ingredients are combined within our complete recipes, the final mercury content averages around one-tenth of the allowed limit.

Sure, Pumpkin is allergic to fish but this is hydrolyzed, broken down so his system won't detect it, right? Farmina states that they even removed the protein from the rice starch and herring oil so they wouldn't cause any problem. Yet less than 2wks after he started eating this he's scratching so bad there's lesions in front of his ears. He's vomiting solid hairballs almost daily meaning he's overgrooming. The vet prescribed Atopica which Chewy quickly filled. It won't do anything if I can't get it into him, and he won't touch food with it mixed in after I tricked him to do so once. I was frustrated before. Now I'm frustrated and deeper in debt with nothing to show for it.

My awesome IBD cat loves this! He loves fish and this pleases all of my cats (free fed). Strong smell but that seems to make them love it more!

The only hydrolized fish cat food I could find. I had numerous questions before I purchased the food and contacted the company directly. They are wonderful company to deal with. I have also been feeding one their other foods on a long-term basis maybe five years now, called N&D Lamb.

She wouldn’t eat it.

I give up. Started mixing with her other food, and eventually this. She left it in the beginning, any way, she wouldn’t eat it . Not the companies fault.

Not edible

We care for 23 cats and not one would eat this product. Another waste of money.
