Hedgehogs need this
I rescued 2 hedgehogs last year that were eating meow mix (not good for them) they were in horrible condition. Skin, quill loss, urine and feces horrific smell, overweight and not as active as they should be! After switching them to this food it started getting better. Once completely switched to this and no other cat food (took time to get them fully switched) everything changed for the better. Especially smell wise which makes sense since hedgehogs are allergic/intolerant to grains. Their skin, quills , energy and again smell is all improved for the better. Honestly the smell was insane before. Now not so much. This cat food along with hedgehog food (they still don’t eat the hedgehog food but it is still given with this food as option) and now other insects and veggies has greatly improved their quality of life and probably saved their life. For hedgehogs and for cats that are grain intolerant I strongly recommend this brand and type (chicken and blueberry is definitely the flavor to buy!!!!) it is the only brand of cat food I would recommend. The improved smell of their urine and feces is worth the price. I buy a big bag lasts 6 months for 2 (I even give to cat and other hedgehog owners to see if their current food is causing problems). This is by far the best food I’ve ever used for hedgehogs including food made for hedgehogs!!!! Your hedgehogs and nose will thank you
A definite "no"
None of my four cats liked it. Ingredients seem fine, but it was not tried again after the first bite. But the raccoons and opossums ate it. Will not be purchased again.
My cat who had GI problem loves it. He is doing good so far
My cat goes bonkers for this. We were feeding him another dried food, which he ate diligently. But he truly loves FirstMate. Gobbles it up. It's a little pricier, but worth it.
Excellent food-Excellent value
Very high protein food with minimal extra ingredients, which is important for a cat's metabolism. Reasonably priced, given its high quality. My three cats, ranging from 1 to 9 years old, all enjoy it.
Cats love this food
My FOUR cats love this food. The best thing about it is it's a healthy kibble, look at the ingredients. Two of my kitties would eat this kibble all day, so I do not feel guilty about feeding them FirstMate.
Finally food that doesn’t make my cat throw up!!
Three cat household with one cat that would throw up multiple times a month. Tried at least 1/2 a dozen brands over a period of two or three years. Eight months in he’s thrown up once maybe twice. Both with hairballs & not whet he’d just eaten.
This food was a lifesaver!
We have a cat who has a lot of food intolerances/allergies. We found this out after doing blood work because she chewed at herself until she bled. We started out with RX food and then were able to get her on a food we could buy locally. The ingredients changed in that food and I was at a loss as to what to do to avoid the costly RX food. After a ton of research on a zillion dry cat foods I finally found this product. I ordered it and held my breath waiting to see of she would actually eat it as she's super picky. She loved it! Her very first bowl of it she ate like she was eating a bowlful of treats. I'm grateful that this is available through Chewy because I've never see it in any store around me.
YEP, MY CATS ARE ALL PICKY LITTLE JERKS
Well alllllll the other kitty's I know LOVED this food. My kitty's however gave me a thumbs down. I have five cats first of all but When my cat singe kept getting UI infections my vet and i decided to change their food. So with friskies now gone for good I tried a few different fancier cat foods like nutrish, blue buffalo, crave- ect ect ect. So finally, during an extreamly late night of wine induced online shopping....i bought a quite large (annnnd expencive) bag of THIS. because honestly I'm at my wits end with what to even buy them other then crappy old grain filled friskies. Soooo as the excited and proud "I just paid a fortune for this catfood" fur mommy that I was....I ripped open the bag as soon as I got it and I even got them new cute little elevated and tilted kitty bowls to eat from...but the extra pazazz I put forward didn't help, because they ALLLLL snubbed it. so I slumped over in defeat. YEP! MY CATS ARE ALL JERKS! Testing my theory that I have the world's most stubborn furballs ....I bagged up a few bags of this kibble to take to some ppl I knew who also had picky cats. (just to see if I'm crazy or not and my cats were all just friskies pimping pre-madonnas orrrrr if I was just over dramatic.) BUT NAY NAY KIDDIES.....IM NOT JIST DRAMATIC. I WAS CORRECT! ALLLLL OF THE OTHER PICKY KITTYS IN MY LIFE THAT BELONG TO LOVED ONES OF MINE ALLLLLL LOVED IT!! AND BOY DO I MEAN THEY LOOOOVED IT!!!! ALL OF THEM DID.....EXCEPT FOR MINE! so I told my vet- sorry.... it's a no go with the food they will actually starve rather then eat the good stuff. Luckily he directed me towards friskies new food with no grain and said it shld work fine. Sooooo back to cheap less impressive and show offy friskies. SIGH! I was so proud of all that expensive cat food too. I'd be showing it off on my counter like..."oh are you looking over here at thisssss....this bag right here of 60$ catfood? Yessss I know.... I spoil my babies!" atleast that's what I picture in my head that never actually happened (BUT IT MAY HAVE IF THEY ATE IT AND IT WAS AROUND LONG ENOUGH!) Anyhoo they loooooved the new friskies of course *rolls eyes*....so yeah great product, smelled amazing looked amazing allllll the other kitty's loved it but.....it looks like there will be noooo fancy food for my picky eaters. I really wanted to be THAT mom too....this stinks. Oh well.....atleast they got fancy cat trees and toys to show off! Hahaha.
First eaten in the mix!
I use this food, along with 1-2 name brand cat foods in a big mixed container, and it's always picked to be the first gone!
