Important Information

Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 90 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

What would happen if I give my dog who is slightly under the weight limit the same amount as my dog who is slightly over the weight limit? I don't want anything to happen to her but I'd much rather just split the 6 month pack between them as I've never used this brand before.
Answer by ChewyDec 05, 2017
You may be slightly under or over as long as your dog is within 5 pounds of the limit. If not, we recommend going with the next size.

How does it protect your dog when you only apply by the back of the neck
Answer by ChewyNov 21, 2017
Once FRONTLINE Plus is applied, it stores itself in the oil glands in your pet's skin. It then self-distributes continuously for one month to your pet's hair and skin through the hair follicles, killing fleas and ticks.

Can this be taken by a dog that also takes a heart worm pill with flea prevention in it?
Answer by ChewyJun 09, 2021
We encourage speaking with your Veterinarian before combining flea and tick preventatives, for the safest opinion.

What type of ticks is Frontline effective on? As there are 6 different types of ticks in my area and not all Tropicals cover all 6.
Answer by ChewyJun 11, 2019
Frontline Plus treats against Lone Star Ticks, American Dog Ticks, Deer Ticks, Brown Dog Ticks, and Western Blacklegged Ticks.

Not so much

I contacted Frontline to see if I could decrease amount for a dog at 45 pounds; no. I would prefer a more accurate dose per pound of dog weight to reduce toxins. Green blue dye discolors my cobberdog cream fur. Dog had engorged tick on face after use and multiple ticks on body. I have had 2 ticks attached to my body which required medical attention and bills. Ticks probably crawled off dog. However, it seems to be less toxic and without permethrin which can kill cats. I have used product on dog for 4 months, but now spray with wondercide as well on my furniture, and prior to rare walk in woods.

My dog got lyme's disease

Frontline used to work well 20 years ago. I recently adopted a puppy, he had a lyme's test, and was negative. I applied frontline to him every 4 weeks, at least 48 hours after his bath. At his 1 year vet check, he had lyme's disease. I still had a box of frontline with 5 doses left (he was done growing at this point) so I figured I'd apply it until I ran out, then switch over to an oral preventive. I still have 3 doses left, and over the past summer/fall months I have found multiple ticks on him, either crawling or attached and feeding (and unfortunately they are large by the time I find them). The preventative seems to be doing nothing to prevent ticks. I wish they didnt advertise it as a tick prevention, then perhaps my dog wouldn't have lyme's disease at such a young age. I wouldn't recommend Frontline anymore, I think the ticks have grown immune to the ingredients. Even with the small seizure risk, oral preventives seem like the best route nowadays if you want protection from ticks.

Did not work

We have 2 dogs both using Frontline. It discolored 1 dog’s fur in a few spots (per the vet) and the worst, they had live fleas on them after months of being shampooed regularly and Frontline applied as directed.

Didn't work

My dog has been on Frontline monthly preventative for years. Recently I found live fleas on her just 4 days after her Frontline dose. Continued to find live fleas on her for 3-4 days until her vet prescribed Capstar to kill the adult fleas. That worked quickly. She was flea free for about 4 days and now finding fleas on her again so clearly the Frontline is not working. All carpet has been vacuumed daily and treated with flea spray, all bedding washed daily etc.

Not Working

I use to buy this product for my dogs all the time and we never had an issue with fleas. But a pet store told me to try the flea collar they had that they were great and would last for months. Well for the first time ever my dogs got infested with fleas, So I did everything I could to kill the existing fleas with flea shampoo and Dawn. Then i went back to Frontline. Don't know if they changed the ingredients or if we have super fleas but there are atill active fleas. I do the second dose in 2 weeks. Hopefully it will kick in and start working. I will try the second dose before I say buy it or not.

Good Product, But Price Increased $5 after 5 days

This is a good product that has been effective for us for many, many years. However, I am dropping one star because the fluctuation in prices is insane. About 5 days ago, I checked and wrote down the price of a 3-month dose supply on my notes. It was $33.23 with autoship. Now, 5 days later on November 4, 2022, it is $38.94! That is ridiculous. I have seen similar price changes in other products I use for my pets, and have seen $10-$20 (additional) change in prices in a span of a few days. Terrible.

Unfortunately it caused issues

I put it on my dog and it didn’t keep the ticks away. She can’t walk now and now has lymes. It is heartbreaking that it didn’t work and now she is suffering currently. I know she will get better but I never wanted her to have this.

Does not work anymore

I have used this product for many years and it seems it has stopped working. Now in the middle of getting the fleas out of our home. Had to move to prescription flea control.
