I am simply amazed at how well the deMatter works on my sixteen-year-old longhair kitty, Lilo. It's getting increasingly difficult for her to groom herself, and she develops some pretty nasty matts. With a bit of patience, I got through even the worst of matts. The FURminator deMatter is awesome!
Not for dematting
on Nov 8, 2021
This is not a dematting tool for cats. My cat has a couple small mats on his back. I tried to use this tool and he was not happy. This is going to snag and pull on a mat big or small. He didn't mind me combing him with it in areas without mats. So, it's more of a coat maintenance tool, not a dematter.
Saved the day!

This little tool is fabulous! My elderly cats was developing mats due to health issues even though I brush him daily. This tool worked right thru the thick hair with no problem. I am so relieved to have found something that works.
Not very sharp
on Sep 21, 2021
I love almost all of our FURminator grooming tools, but this one just isn't 'cutting' it. My Chow Chows get matts behind their ears and around their collars. This deMatter simply isn't cutting the mats without having to tug an pull. It works ok for combing out and thinning matting along the body, but not for the long hair mats behind the hears and around the collar. I've used one of these by another brand before and it worked great. I wish i could remember what brand that was.
Blade too curved.
on Sep 6, 2021
Although this tool blade is sharp and it definitely gets some fur off my cat, it pulls at the matted fur and she will not let me finish trying to comb with this. The blade is also so curved downward that it is hard to run along my cat to try and get some fur loose. If you had pets that had fur that wasn't so matted, it would probably work fine, but my cat is a long haired cat and we always have trouble with her hair matting. She does not tolerate messing with her hair.

I have 2 cats, one with short fur and one with long fur. It removes surface and undercoat fur really well. The blade height adjusts so I can use this on both cats.
gets the job done

I have 3 cats 2 of the 3 shed SOOOOOOO BAD! It’s absolutely nuts the amount of hair I brush out of them everyday. So I bought this in hopes it would help and it definitely worked great!!!! You would of thought I had a 4th cat with the amount of hair I got out both cats. Haha definitely recommend
This thing really works
on Sep 6, 2021
My cat was severely matted. She has a beastly thick undercoat even though she’s considered a shorthair. Her brother is a long hair! Anyway she had tons of huge mats that I just couldn’t brush out. I thought I’d give this a try! Next step was obviously the “lion cut” that the vet had done before. No lion cut needed! This got rid of the mats and she actually loved me doing it!
No more mats!

Jackie is supposed to be an American short haired torte cat. He may be American and short haired but that short hair is thick and he has mats on his side and his haunches continually. He works on that coat all day long (when not having a good nap or a snack) I use a furminator brush on him already but wanted to try the furminator dematter. To brush Jackie, I use 3 brushes. First the deMatter, then the regular furminator, then a wire brush to take off all the clumps of hair. This works great for him! No more mats!
Just not for my cats
on Sep 19, 2021
I have already a different FURminator deMatter tool what works great. This one is extremley curved (even the handle is great) and I hardly get any fur off my cat's because of the angle. Maybe it's just me.
