The Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Kidney Care Chicken & Vegetable Stew Canned Dog Food is clinically proven nutrition that can help transform your pet’s life. As pets age, damage to the kidney tissues may occur, which affects the kidney’s role to function properly and filter toxins and waste from the blood. It is irreversible, and will lead to further loss of kidney function. This may also decrease their appetite, which could eventually result in the loss of muscle mass. And so the Hill’s nutritionists and veterinarians created this special diet, which supports your dog’s kidney function and helps to sustain muscle mass—in fact, the nutrition of k/d is clinically tested to improve and lengthen the quality of life.

I have a 10 year old 3lb Yorkshire Terrier who's kidneys have not been functioning properly and was at risk of going into kidney failure. After a couple of days in the hospital our vet put her on Hill's k/d Prescription Diet. I rotate between the Chicken & Veg Stew and the Beef & Veg Stew. She loves them! They don't give her stomach upset which she used to commonly have on her old diet. After several months on the Hill's Diet we returned to the vet to have her kidney and urine values tested and the results were shocking. Her kidney function has improved!! She is now living with a better overall quality of life! Hill's is worth every penny spent!

My dog has several health problems, including kidney disease. For several weeks he would not eat anything, even table food. We had to feed him with a syringe. Since he got on some medication and starts eating the KD canned food, his appetite is back to normal. He loves this food. I am happy with it—pretty expensive, but it is worth it.

I was upset when I was told by my vet that my Maggie had kidney issues and needed to be on prescription food. BUT -- she loves this food and it looks good enough that even a human can eat it! She gets more blood work done in another month, so can't right now say if this food is medically helping her.

The vet gave us samples and he ate it just fine. The stew we had delivered we have to add boiled chicken and he still may not eat. The vet also gave us regular food (not stew) and a Putina kidney food. I think next time I’ll have to try one of those.

Hills K/D has been a life saver for our lab. She was given a short prognosis but has been able to far surpass expectations wtih stage III kidney disease. Under the right care and treatment including Hill's Prescription Diet she has turned the corner.

I really worried about having to give my older dog new food that was prescription at this stage of his life but he really likes it. I mix the canned with the dry Hills prescription food, making it easier for my 14 year old to chew and enjoy.

The stew is a nice consistency that my dog prefers to the solid pack. Got this to add a bit of variety to his diet (although he seems to prefer the beef flavor). Since he is on such a limited diet, it seems to help to rotate the flavors.

He cannot get enough of this food. If I open the can too close to his mouth, he starts licking it out of the can before I can get it into his food bowl. He's never done that with any food over the last 7 years that I've owned him. It's expensive, but I will do whatever it takes to keep him healthy.

A recent surrender to our rescue required some special food to help with possible kidney issues. The little girl loves the food and has gained weight while on it, she may even be able to come off it eventually.
