Answer by tomcatNov 04, 2022
my 25 yr old cat is the same way. i mix this with fancy feast pate but you could use a brand your cat likes too, about 60/40 mix 40% k/d food.

Buddy Loves This Fish Flavor; Wouldn’t Eat Chicken Flavor

My cat has kidney disease. He’s picky with wet cat food. He only eats 2 flavors, after trying all flavors of all brands of kidney disease cat food. I warm his wet food in the microwave, mixed with extra filtered water (1.5T water for each 3 oz wet food) to “make gravy”, because he doesn’t drink water. Right before serving the warm cat food (warming the cat food gives the bland food a stronger aroma and makes it more appealing), I had to sprinkle ~8 Tastetations on top to bribe him to eat & trigger his hunger (so he eats the wet cat food). The vet said Tastetations are bad for his kidney disease, so I switched to sprinkling 8 of this Hills k/d dry cat food on top of his wet cat food. He wouldn’t eat the chicken flavor of dry food, but likes the fish flavor. I also now use these to bribe him to let me trim his nails every 2 weeks, instead of Tastetations. He gets one for each nail he lets me trim. I’m finding that feeding him 4x/day (1.5 oz wet cat food at a time) is working best to keep him eating.

Finally! something she likes

Abbey hates, HATES kidney care cat food. Canned, dry, doesn't matter. I tried every brand, and this was my last resort. She had tried the Hill's chicken flavor and didn't like it. It was so distressing to feed her food she didn't like! She LOVES LOVES LOVES the Ocean Fish flavor! As soon as I got it I gave her it for dinner and she ate it all!. And, she woke me up TWICE during the night for seconds and thirds. Best.Flavor.Ever.

Thank you!

Our 18 year old cat was recently diagnosed with early stage kidney disease. He was on primarily a wet diet (urinary tract health) during the day, but we were feeding him dry food (Hill's c/d kibble) at night so that he would let us sleep. He LOVED his c/d kibble. We were having a very hard time finding a kidney kibble that he liked. He did not like the k/d chicken flavored kibble, but he gobbles up the Ocean Fish flavor! Thank goodness!!!!

Wonderful and lifesaving product

I have used k/d Kidney Care dry and canned food for three years: it has saved my cat's life. Strongly endorse k/d for all little patients experiencing kidney decline, please consider discussing prescriptions with your veterinarian.

changed the size and formula

I thought I finally found a renal kibble my boy loves and and reordered the same bag only to find the kibble looks completely different. The size is much larger and the color is different. Sadly, my cat will not eat the new formula. WHY DO THEY DO THIS? This is the second time I’ve purchased a Hills product and noticed they randomly switch up the formula without any indication on the packaging. Horrible!

Need more options

My poor cat has early stage kidney disease ao needs the special diet. I've tried all three mager brands that are offed. I thought we had found the solution when I opened hills K/D and the cat ate it up. Unfortunately since then he won't touch it and we are stuck with another expensive food that he won't eat. He DOES eat the wet Hill's K/D vegetable ,tuna food.

credit of this order.

That was very nice of the person (I forgot her name) to take into account my sudden stray cat situation. I called back the day after my order to cancel the larger bag, but it had already shipped. I was nicely told she would credit my account and to donate or use the food to feed these 3 strays I don't know what to do with. That was very kind and extremely helpful. I'll tell everyone. Thank you! Ron Veitch

Cat won't eat it

It's such a challenge trying to find a dry food that my sweet girl will eat. She won't touch this food. And these type foods are costly. Another bag just sitting untouched.

Kidney food

Orion is getting up in years and has kidney disease. My formerly hearty eater was struggling with the kidney diet, but he seems to enjoy this and is eating well again.
