very confusing names. What flavors are : A, F, S, in kibble? What flavors are:. D, E, S, in canned? What are the textures, etc of each? Does S mean different things in kibble and canned? Is S kibble varried shapes, pork and fish flavor?--- what do you mean by savory? thanks
Answer by ChewyMar 25, 2019
Royal Canin's Renal Support recipes are designed to appeal to the different tastes pets can have. The dry recipes are A, F, and S. A is for Aromatic and is formulated to have a stronger scent in a round kibble. F is for Flavorful and is a triangular kibble with enhanced flavor. S is for Savory and i s a square kibble offering a more varied flavor profile. The canned recipes are T, D, and E. T is for Tasty and is a slices in gravy option with multiple flavor profiles. D is for Delectable and is formulated as morsels in gravy, similar to the Renal Support T. E is for Enticing and is a pate texture canned recipe with chicken and pork flavors.

what is the difference between royal canin vet diet renal support "A" and "S" dry cat food?
Answer by ChewyMar 17, 2018
The A is for aromatic, the S is for savory and the F is for flavorful. Each will have the same medical properties however they will be formulated a little differently to appeal to various cat preferences.

what is the protein, phosphorus, sodium, and carbohydrates levels on a dry matter basis?
Answer by ChewyJan 09, 2020
This variety contains approximately 38.8% Carbohydrate content on an as-fed basis (42.1% on a dry matter basis), 0.41% Sodium content on an as-fed basis (0.44% on a dry matter basis), 0.55% Phosphorus content on an as-fed basis (0.59% on a dry matter basis) and 22.5-26.5% Protein content on an as-fed basis (24.4-28.8% on a dry matter basis).

How big are the kibble? My cat only likes big pieces.
Answer by ChewyNov 27, 2017
The kibble does vary in size due to baking the food. A good example of this is when baking cookies, the same recipe is used and the process is the same, but some batches may be fluffier and some may be denser. Size variation can be seen on occasion, but will not affect the nutritional value of the diet.

The only food my cat will eat

My cat recently got diagnosed with kidney disease out of the blue. She stopped eating completely. We tried over 15 different foods and nothing was working. Then our vet prescribed us this and wow! Our cat immediately ate it and continues to eat only this every day. She loves it. We haven’t seen her eat this much in over a month. Highly recommended.

Senior cat loves it!

We switched to this food for our 15 year old calico who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. I was worried about switching her because she’s always eaten purina her whole life. She dove right into the bowl though and inhaled this food. She loves it!! It is a little pricey, so we only give it to our one cat (we have 3) and it seems to last as long as you stick to the suggested portions.

Impressed!

I was very happy with the speed of delivery on my order. I was concerned I would run out of prescribed food for my girl LuLu and totally delighted when the whole order arrived the next day!!!

Not a food my cat enjoyed. Expensive too!

I’m extremely disappointed that my cat would not eat this, or any of the Royal Canin Renal support cat food. I tried every formulation: A, F & S. He had ZERO interest in it & would just pick around what he disliked, getting & eating only the pieces of his previous, regular cat food, as I tried to transition his diet. During transitioning process, I left out a different bowl of one of the Royal Canin flavors, overnight, with nothing else but his water. My mornings began with him constantly begging for food and treats. He was willing to not eat, than eat ANY formulation of the Royal Canin wet or dry food. Expensive food! Sure wish he’d loved it, but I can’t/won’t starve him, cause him more suffering.

My cat loves this

I was very nervous when my Vet wanted me to switch my cat's food to the renal support. A friend recommended I try this one and much to my relief, she loves it. I dare say she likes it better than the food I had her on for years.

Expensive but worth it

Granted yes all prescription dry or wet foods are extremely expensive, but this has most definitely helped my little girl with her kidney disease. It's small and to her actually tastes good. She's drawn to it the moment I put it down. Would recommend this over hills prescription any day.

FINALLY, Prescription Food She Likes!

My cat was recently diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease, and it broke my heart. The doctor recommended the prescription brand they carried but she only liked 1 type of the wet food and would literally just not touch the dry food at all. I tried a different flavor of the same brand, she ate it for a few days and then just stopped touching it again. I just want her to be well-fed and actually enjoy what she's eating so her health can improve as much as possible, so I was getting really frustrated. I finally asked my vet about this brand and they gave the go-ahead to try it and I am SO thankful! Finally she actually looks forward to meals and eagerly eats this food. Just one less thing to worry about :')
