About Royal Canin Kidney Health for Cats

Concerned about Your Cat’s Kidney Health?

The healthy functioning of your cat’s kidneys is essential to them living a healthy life. Their kidneys serve as a filtering system that helps remove toxins and waste from blood. You should always work with your veterinarian to monitor your cat’s kidney health.

Support Your Cat’s Quality of Life Through Kidney Health Challenges

Feed a Specific Renal Diet

Your veterinarian can recommend the right diet to support your cat’s kidney function.

Encourage Drinking Water

Make sure that your cat always has fresh and clean water available. Offering them moist food can also support hydration.

Stimulate Your Cat’s Appetite

Offer your cat a nutritional option with different taste, smell, and texture to help ensure food intake, especially for pets with a poor appetite.

How Nutrition Can Help

Your veterinarian may recommend a formula that includes:

Digestive Support

A combination of highly digestible proteins, balanced fibers, prebiotics and EPA + DHA to support digestive health.

Antioxidant Complex

Enriched with a blend of antioxidants to promote tissue and cellular health.

Kidney Support

Modified phosphorous and protein to support kidney function.

Adapted Energy

Adapted energy content to reduce meal volume and help compensate for a decreased appetite.

Add Variety and Remember to Set Autoship

Offering a range of aromas and textures can help ensure palatability and adequate food intake. Also, remember to set Autoship to make sure that your cat always has their veterinarian’s recommended nutrition.

Decent but still not a win

I got this food because the S flavor has been out of stock for so long now and royal canin won't say when it will be back. I tried the A flavor and it was a miss. This flavor is slightly better but she still isn't really happy with this food either. She's really picky with kidney support foods and I feel like I'm at my wit's end. This flavor might work for some cats really well but it doesn't work for mine.

Great tasting (I think)

I bought the smallest bag as a trial and will have to reorder soon since both of my cats love this food! I was worried when another review mentioned large kibble size, but the pieces seem average and my cat who is missing several teeth has no problem eating this.

My Cat Will Not Eat This

My cat ate some of this food for one day and then no more. I tried to gradually add it to her existing food, but then she stopped eating that food to until I took this one out.

cats love it

my cats use all the Royal Canin kidney food. my one boy has kidney issues since September 2019. using these products has kept his kidney issues from progressing. I am very grateful. they really like the dry morsels although the vets wants them to eat the wet food. I leave the dry out for them to snack on. wonderful products

Picky cat loves it!

I was very nervous when my cat was diagnosed with early kidney failure - she's SO picky I never thought I'd get her to eat any rx foods - I was wrong! She LOVES the Royal Canin varieties! It's the only brand I've found that has a variety of flavors, so she can cycle through them when she gets sick of one!

Wonderful service from Chewy Again!

Chewy makes it so easy for me to buy quality petfood (most prescription) for my 14+ and 16+ year old cats. I can't yet say if this food helps my geriatric cat, but I know that Chewy is a trusted supplier and has been for years. I whole-heartedly thank everyone in the warehouses, and working on the customer service lines--you are the best!

Cats won't eat it

Purchased this for my two 16 yr old cats that have kidney issues. They hate it. Waste of money.

Cat says no

Had high hopes for this one with such good reviews, but my cat wouldn't even try it. :-/ The kibble is larger pieces than other brands we have tried, almost cocoa-puff sized (?) but seems to be less dense.

My CKD cat gobbles this up!

Happily my newly diagnosed CKD cat really likes the Royal Canin renal support kibble! I am so relieved because she can be very particular (picky!) and did not like another of the national veterinary diet brands at all.

Initially okay

The cat we bought this kidney food for initially liked it, for about a week. Then she decided she didn't like it so well any more and wouldn't eat much of it. But fortunately one of the other cats does like it, so at least it won't go to waste. That cat will have good kidneys...
