After a vet visit, we discovered that our old female shepherd mix tested with pretty high liver enzymes. We brought her in to see if we could get her some pain management meds for her failing back end. With high liver enzymes, pain meds would be too difficult on an already stressed liver. My vet suggested we try this food. We started it right away and though I top it with homemade chicken/ potato, I saw a marked difference in my dog’s panting after meals. She would sit and pant for an hour when digesting a meal and no longer has those symptoms.

One of our otherwise healthy lab mix dogs has had elevated ATL levels. We tried a SAMe supplement that was less expensive than Denamarin. It did not help. We switched to Denamarin Advanced, which is more economical now, thankfully, as well as the Hepatic Hill’s L/D. We’re still on the road of discovery, but we’re happy that there’s hope for our girl. We are feeding 3 smaller meals per day, which is easier on their liver. Be aware that the feeding chart on the bag is grossly overloaded. Please check your current kilocalories before switching and do the math for your pup. Ours eats 3.5x LESS than recommended on the bag. Get with your Veterinarian if you’re unsure.

We recently learned that our black lab and border collie mix puppy has an internal liver shunt. Unfortunately, antibiotics and lactulose weren’t enough to manage the condition. We took him to the University of Pennsylvania, two hours away, where they recommended Hill's prescription food formulated for growth and liver support. I was initially skeptical that he would eat it, but thankfully, he loves it! We use Hill’s dry and canned food, topped with a small amount of regular wet food, and he finishes every meal. Since starting this diet, he’s no longer experiencing those awful episodes of vomiting, excessive drooling, or staring off into space. I’m so grateful this food exists. It’s the only thing that has helped our puppy feel normal, happy, and playful again.

My dog will eat anything, literally. Cat barf. Cat turdlettes (tiny turds). Things that were once food but are now more of a lifestyle choice. So when I say this food is ambrosia to her, please understand the bar is very low. That said, this food is the reason she’s still alive. She has a liver shunt, and this diet keeps her healthy and thriving. It’s her breakfast, dinner, and treats because her list of “approved foods” is basically just this bag and a dream. If you have a picky eater, they may stage a hunger strike. But if you have a dog like mine who considers garbage a food group, this food is a literal lifesaver.

the original order should've included treats, the confirmation reflected it, but the order showed up without them, we called said they'd be sent in 1-3 days, then we received an email saying we needed yet another authorization. we called, the customer service was pleasant and said there must be a glitch and we'd see a confirmation by the am, why is there so much miscommunication in your system

My 11-year-old spaniel has severe liver issues - and this is the food the vet recommends - The typically has a good appetite - despite her issues. - She hates this food. She hates the canned food of the same brand - also. I've tried mixing this with homemade chicken broth - nope - she'll lick the broth off and then drop the kibble on the floor. - She hates it. - This week I will be talking to the vet about other options - because this isn't working. Her healthy big sister will happily swoop in and clean up the leftovers - but that's not helpful............... According to the healthy dog - this stuff is just fine.

My tiny miniature schnauzer has liver shunts and kidney stones. This food has allowed him to remain surgery free (after a very expensive surgery they said would lead to more surgeries) for two years now. He also takes lactulose and with this food and the lactulose, his entire temperament has changed as well. The liver plays a huge role in detoxifying the body and my once very spirited, bite-y dog is now super chill and laid back (unless he’s protecting a toy he’s not supposed to have).

Our dog Riley has some serious issues with his liver; high copper levels. One of the vets in the practice had put him on Royal Canin, and it helped some, but he didn't like it. He particularly didn't like the canned. One of the other vets, who became his full-time vet, switched him to Hill's Liver Care and he likes it much better. Between his diet and the medication he takes, his copper levels have dropped significantly.

Box arrived torn up.

Top flaps were loose due to short pieces of tape on the sides coming off. Bottom flaps completely open due to same. It’s a miracle nothing fell out in delivery.
