We’ve been subscribing this food for few years. We’re on the way to our vet for a 3rd time in the past 2 months! The formula completely changed and our 9 year old dog is not doing great! She has rashes all over, she is uncomfortable and on meds for over a month! I discovered probably 2 weeks ago that this is it! We didn’t change a thing in feeding her, but I discovered the formula is different than what it was. She is allergic to chicken, now this food is chicken based !!! Be aware!!!! If your dog has food sensitivity this is not great option at all!

Gromit, my 12 yr old labradoodle, refused her food beginning 5 months ago. Tried many diets, plus preparing a very fussy one from scratch, after referral to nutritionist at UC Davis Vet school. She hardly ate it, and gradually stopped eating altogether. Hospitalized. Ultrasound. Appt with internal medicine specialist. She had something like canine IBS and allergy intolerance to so many foods. Hills prescription diet hydrolyzed kibble plus Royal Canin hydrolyzed (can) have saved her. Frisky again, eating happily. So relieved and grateful she can have this food.

My dog experiences borborygmi every 3 to 4 days on this food. She will not eat for an entire day. She also scoots a lot and licks her butt a lot on this food. It is still causing some allergic symptoms. Unfortunately this is the only hydrolyzed food she will eat! She hates RC Ultamino and RC HP loaf wet food. Will try BB Natural hydrolyzed food next.

I’ve been struggling for months to figure out why all the improvement we have made in our dogs itchy skin and yeast ears has returned to find out the formula has changed without any notice. We are spending a lot of money on this dog food and now more on vet bills, and medicine trying to sort this out.

BEWARE! My dog has been on this food for a couple of years and it worked wonders. However, in the past few months she has taken a turn for the worse. Literally uncontrollable diarrhea 24/7. My vet didn’t know what was wrong. I took her to a University Vet Clinic where a dietitian who studies pet foods alerted me to the formula change. After a lot of research I discovered that they have added ground pecan shells to the food. It’s the 3rd ingredient on the label. Science Diet did this without alerting vets or consumers. There are many dogs struggling. What dog with intestinal issues would be able to tolerate this?

My 12 year old mini dachshund with IBD has been on Z/D for many years with no recent flare ups. When the new bag arrived, the color was darker. Now my fur baby has debilitating stomach cramping. Going to request that my vet switch her to Royal Canine instead. Shame on Hills for adding the harmful fillers to the detriment of our fur babies.

I tried giving only 2 stars but apparently Chewy doesn’t like honesty. Most delivery companies leave our orders by the garage (UPS and FedEx) but this company OnTrac went through our front gate to our front door instead. Our front yard is containment for our dogs. Luckily they were inside but this guy had to literally unlock our gate and open it to get inside but when he left, he left the gate wide open. Not knowing that we even got our delivery (no knock or anything) didn’t think I had to worry about the gate being open. I went to take my dogs outside for their potty break and our rescue dog ended up running out the gate the guy left open. We had to go searching for her and we aren’t young people so it wasn’t easy getting her back. Please remind your delivery companies you use that if they go through the trouble of opening a closed gate, close it on their way out

I had to switch my dog from Hills Science Diet because of a formula change they recently made. My dog is not a picky eater and she refuses to eat this no matter what kind of food topper I put on it or how long she goes without food. I did reach out to HSD and they tried to help, but bottom line is she needs to eat and they do not offer the original formula.

We have been going back and forth with the vet for months about our dogs stools and we tried everything from other foods brands to homemade diets and nothing was helping. We saw an improvement after the first time she ate the Hills. She is also a picky eater so this has been something that she likes and will actually eat.
