Transition Instructions

A gradual transition to a new pet food is important to avoid digestive upset. To transition, mix your pet's current food with the new food. Over 7 days, gradually decrease the amount of the current pet food while increasing the amount of new pet food. In some cases, your veterinarian may recommend no transition or a shorter transition time.

Groundbreaking Nutrition for Digestive Health

Hill's Gastrointestinal Biome dry dog food was formulated using a different approach to digestive care. This kibble helps your dog's stomach break down food more efficiently using a specific blend of active fibers. This blend, ActivBiome+, can help promote healthier stool and improve regularity. Other beneficial ingredients may help promote a healthy urinary system, too—they call it S+OX Shield.

Clinical Nutrition

With Hill's, it's not just high-quality ingredients that count. Their focus is on the proper balance of nutrients in every recipe. So, Hill's designed food to help pets with health conditions, providing the right nutrients to support their health. Hill's alliance with veterinarians puts them in a position to find a nutrition recommendation for your pet, no matter what health issue he's facing.

Formulated by Veterinarians

Hill's Prescription Diet started with a veterinarian's belief that some health issues could be managed through nutrition. What began as a theory has now been proven through extensive research by a team of over 220 vets, PhD nutritionists and food scientists. The results can be seen in Hill's Prescription Diet therapeutic pet foods.

Meeting the Highest Standards

Providing a food that delivers exactly what it says it does is Hill's number one priority. In fact, they perform over five million safety and quality checks every year. They've established relationships with trusted suppliers and will only accept ingredients that meet stringent standards.

The Taste Factor

The Taste Factor

You might know that Hill's Prescription Diet is good for your pet, but she's only concerned with the taste. Even though they place a heavy emphasis on nutrition, Hill's hasn't forgotten about palatability. Helped with colitis

    By on

My puppy started having soft, loose stools from the time we adopted her at 5mos. old and was on regular Hills food. After 6mos she was diagnosed with colitis and switched to i/d. Things were going ok until she had a major flare-up with blood in her stool and her vet put on her new Biome. What a difference it has made. Her stools are nice and formed, she's ok with the taste but I wish it came in canned as my dog prefers canned food over kibble. It's also very pricey. Aside from that my dogs sensitive system seems to like it.

    This food saved us!

    By on

After over 4 months of excessive diarrhea, we were at the end of our rope and our dog Cory was not a happy dog and neither were we. With our vets help we had tried a myriad of foods and medicines. Thank goodness our vet found out about this product! After just 2 days no more diarrhea! Our dog actually likes the food for the most part (although I wish they had wet food) and he is back to normal! Thank you for inventing this! Hope buying this food monthly won't break the bank though but guess it will be worth it for no diarrhea. Would give 5 stars but pricey and no wet food option (yet)

    Good for fiber responsive colitis

    By on

My dog has fiber responsive colitis, for which we’d had him on Hill’s W/D for many months. He was doing reasonably well on that but was still having some stool and anal gland issues, and it made him have to poop 4 to 6 times a day. On Gastrointestinal Biome, his stools are actually better, and he only goes 3 times a day. And he likes it much more than he liked the W/D. We’re very happy with it so far.

New Prescription Food for Digestive Health

    By on

Our rescued greyhound, Socks, has had digestive issues for as long as we have had her. Our veterinarian had her on the original Hill's Prescription Diet low-fat ID kibble and canned food which helped somewhat, but she still had loose stools. We've had her on this new food for two weeks, and she has had a few semi-solid stools so we are quite hopeful.

    Prompt delivery - as usual!

    By on

My vet doesn't carry this product, and after my dog had suffered from chronic diarrhea for months with no apparent cause, they agreed that this was worth a try. The product arrived within 3 days of my order. Unfortunately, my dog didn't find this food to be tasty and she won't eat it. She also just got a diagnosis that won't be helped by this particular food, so I am looking to donate it to another pet parent or a facility such as a shelter that can use it.

    Great Product

    By on

Our 8 month old Aussie had chronic diarrhea for about a month. Our vet prescribed this product and within 24 hours the diarrhea stopped and she now has normal stools. Our vet has recommended we keep her on this product for at least 6 months and we will re-evaluate at that time
